The Kitchen presents an exhibition and series of performances from time-transcending Afrofuturist musical experimenter and multidisciplinary artist Camae Ayewa, aka Moor Mother. Using soundscape installation, film, collage, and poetry, Ayewa showcases the creative process of her upcoming second Moor Mother album, Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes, and its instrumental accompaniment, Sublime Methods of Spiritual Machines, which investigate the idea that every shadow has a history. Her work speaks about ancestral temporality and the embodiment of what remains and lingers: what takes shape and holds in the shadows of the physical world.

Franklin Stage Company Awarded Regional Economic Development Grant

Franklin Stage Company, in Franklin, NY is honored to announce that they have been awarded a $40,000 workforce investment grant from the NYS Regional Economic Development Council (REDC). The funds will support wages for executive leadership for one year. The grant will be administered through the NY State Council for the Arts (NYSCA) with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2017-18 Kumble Theater season with Daniel Beaty's solo theatrical tour-de-force, Emergency, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 8pm and Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3pm. Originally titled Emergence-SEE when it made its New York premiere at the Public Theater in 2006 under the direction of Kenny Leon, the show has since toured nationally and internationally, earning Beaty a 2007 Obie Award for Writing & Performing and a 2007 AUDELCO Award for Solo Performance.

Tulsa Ballet Returns to New York City This March

Tulsa Ballet, under the artistic direction of Marcello Angelini, will return to The Joyce Theater with a program of works created specifically for the company, including Glass Figures, a world premiere by Resident Choreographer Ma Cong, from March 6-10. Returning to NYC for the first time since 2009, the company will also perform Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's Shibuya Blues and Helen Pickett's Meoal (Among).
