American Theater Company Celebrates 30th Anniversary, Announces New Ensemble Members

American Theater Company (ATC) celebrates its 25th Anniversary with The Silver Project, a year-long festival of 30 world premiere short plays penned by some of the country's leading playwrights. The Silver Project will run over ten evenings between February 8, 2010 and June 20, 2010 at American Theater Company, 1909 W Byron St, Chicago.

Clair Huxtable II on Cosby, she might be considered a natural for the part by New York playgoers who have seen her rip up the stage as the anguished and dominating Bernarda Alba or have observed her communicating silent volumes as a symbol of African heritage in Gem of the Ocean.

U.K.'s 55th Annual Evening Standard Award Nominees Announced: Celebrate Spacey, McKellen, Mendes, and More, 11/23

The 55th Annual Evening Standards Theatre Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in London Theater, today has released their long list of 2009 nominees. The award ceremony, which will take place on November 23 at the Royal Opera House, will honor some of theater's biggest stars, including Ian McKellen, Kevin Spacey, Sam Mendes, and more. Sponsored by U.K'.s Evening Standard newspaper, with nominees selected by a panel of London theater critics, the shortlist of nominees will be sometime next week.

American Buffalo at Steppenwolf: A Must See

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2009-2010 season with a revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo. August: Osage County, which, on Friday, May 22nd, surpassed The Heidi Chronicles in the list of Broadway's longest running plays, welcomed Tony Award-winner Phylicia Rashad to the cast on Tuesday, May 26th. Ms. Rashad now stars as Violet Weston. BroadwayWorld's cameras were there last night to capture the curtain call with the acclaimed cast.
