Himself and Nora, the new musical, will end its engagement at Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane) tonight, August 6th. With book, music, and lyrics by Jonathan Brielle and directed by Michael Bush, Himself and Nora will have played 26 previews and 71 performances at the time of closing.

Set during a period of great turmoil just prior to the Russian revolution (1905), FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is a joyous celebration of life in times of uncertainty. Most versions I've seen have been scaled down considerably, focusing on the more intimate scenes. That's certainly not the case here. The MUNY's spectacular production gives us the full breadth and scope of Joseph Stein, Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock's thoughtful and heart warming take on themes of family and tradition. Anchored by a particularly strong cast and top notch staging this, is quite simply, perfection!

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for the theatre's Summer Thrills Series and Broadway musical event - A Night With Janis Joplin. The Muny just announced that its production of Fiddler on the Roof will feature the world stage premiere of a new song.

Premiering at the Cape Playhouse, The May Queen, written by Molly Smith Metzler and now directed by Amanda Charlton, comes to the stage and brings with it the sort of office lethargy that almost comes too close to the real thing. If you've ever worked in an office setting before, the moment David walks tiredly into the room you are already nodding your head in acknowledgement of the silent aggravation and gradual hopelessness the situation brings forth.

The May Queen, the sassy, new office comedy, has its Cape Playhouse premiere as the fourth play in in the historic theatre's 90th anniversary season. Directed by Amanda Charlton, it plays a two week engagement, July 26 - August 6; press night is set for Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 pm.

Watching Cabrillo Music Theatre's The Little Mermaid on the Fred Kavli stage is an enjoyable treat, almost like viewing the Disney film ... it's so alive and scintillating. All the color and splendor of the ocean is onstage, and that has a lot to say about this production's creative team. All the technical aspects of the show are working smoothly, in sync. Cabrillo may be assuredly proud of their production. The sad thing is it only plays a week more, until Sunday July 24.

Meredith Willson's classic musical, THE MUSIC MAN, gets a lively and engaging workout on the stage of The MUNY. It's a show near and dear to my heart since I played the lead in a high school production many moons ago. It's also why I especially wanted my son to see it. Happily, he thoroughly enjoyed the show, and while there were some mistakes here and there, it was still an uplifting charmer that was filled with a slew of memorable songs and moments.

Besides the Hollywood Bowl's all-star concert event, THE LITTLE MERMAID also made a splash at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. This visually-gorgeous, fully-staged new production of the film's Broadway stage adaptation---produced locally by McCoy Rigby Entertainment with new staging and direction by Glenn Casale---continues in the city of La Mirada through June 26.

A new comedy by Molly Smith Metzler closes the 2015-2016 ESL Wilson Stage Series as Geva Theatre Center presents The May Queen. Directed by Amanda Charlton, The May Queen runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage from May 3 through May 29.
