Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival to Celebrate 35th Anniversary With Gala Concert at Dimenna Center, 4/8

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival will present a concert open to the public for the first time in New York on Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Cary Hall, 450 West 37th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. A special orchestra-the Cape Cod Gala Orchestra, conducted by Liam Burke-has been assembled for this occasion. Noted WQXR radio announcer Jeff Spurgeon will host the evening and Nancy B. Barry, First President of the Festival, as well as Honorary Artistic Chair Charles Hamlen, V.P. of Orchestra of St. Luke's and Co-Founder of IMG Artists, will be on hand for the event.

A previous commitment prevented me from reviewing the Ensemble for the Romantic Century's (ERC) Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart at the Brooklyn Academy of Music until now. Unfortunately, the production has closed but the memory lingers.

Segerstrom Center and ABT Will Present Co-Annual Productions of THE NUTCRACKER, Beg. Dec 2015

American Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker, choreographed by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, is set to a score by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky and features scenery and costumes by Richard Hudson and lighting by Jennifer Tipton. The production was given its World Premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House on December 23, 2010.

Dance Against Cancer, An Evening to Benefit The American Cancer Society, Set for 5/5

American Repertory Ballet Presents DIAMOND GALA, Today

On March 15, 2014, American Repertory Ballet will hold its annual Gala performance and reception, Diamond Gala, in downtown New Brunswick, NJ. The performance will begin at 6:00pm at Crossroads Theater, and the reception will begin at 7:00pm across the street at the Heldrich Hotel. The reception, designed by Cassandre Snyder Events and Design, will include a gourmet dinner, dancing to the music of The Kenny i Orchestra, live and silent auctions, and more. Princeton Ballet School students ages 12-18 years can enjoy a Junior Gala party with dinner, dancing and silent auction, also at the Heldrich Hotel.

American Ballet at the MET Opera House Announces 2014 Spring Season, Box Office Opens 3/30

American Ballet Theatre's 2014 season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 12-July 5, will be highlighted by the Company Premiere of Frederick Ashton's Cinderella and a Shakespeare Celebration to include Ashton's The Dream and Alexei Ratmansky's The Tempest. Season revivals include Leonide Massine's Gaite Parisienne and Kenneth MacMillan's Manon. Trey McIntyre Project to Perform Last Work as a Full-Time Dance Company at Harris Theater, 4/3

In one of its final performances as a full-time dance company, the Boise-based Trey McIntyre Project (TMP) will present the Harris Theater-commissioned Chicago premiere of The Vinegar Works: Four Dances of Moral Instruction. The performance on Thursday, April 3 at 7:30PM will include live musical accompaniment from the young stars of the Music Institute of Chicago. This exciting work, organized and led by the Harris Theater, pairs one of the city's finest cultural institutions with one of the country's foremost contemporary dance ensembles. The commission centers on the Theater's mission to collaborate with, and present, Chicago's midsize and emerging arts organizations in innovative ways.
