Amanda McBroom -- American international theater and cabaret performer and writer of the hit song, "The Rose"  -- will return to 54 Below on September 30th and October 1st at 7pm with her new show, Up Close and Personal, featuring unheard songs from her own songwriter's trunk, plus music by some of her favorite writers including Leonard Cohen, Judy Collins, Fran Landesman, John Bucchino, Jacques Brel and more.

The RRazz Room at The Prince is an intimate venue programmed by the entrepreneurs who created the infamous and iconic RRazz Room in San Francisco. The RRazz Room brand has become synonymous with quality entertainment presented at its purest and most intimate form. The unique space allows patrons to experience all their favorite entertainers up close and personal. George Street Playhouse announced today that award-winning vocalist MAUREEN McGOVERN will make a special appearance at the New Brunswick theatre on Wednesday, September 16 at 8pm.  Joined on stage by her music director JEFF HARRIS, Ms. McGovern will offer selections from her newest show and upcoming CD, Sing, My Sisters, Sing!

Nancy Rhodes, artistic director of Encompass New Opera Theatre, announced today that cabaret and Broadway star Jason Graae will be the featured performer at the Encompass Jazz Cabaret Gala in Manhattan on June 29th, 2015.

The singer, songwriter and recording artist Carolyn Montgomery-Forant continued her recent comeback as performed her critically acclaimed 'Visible Phoenix' at the Laurie Beechman Theater, 407 West 42nd Street, a show which took off in October. The flame-throwing wit's first solo show since returning to the stage in January of last year, 'Visible Phoenix' marches on Fridays, March 13, and April 10. All shows are at 7pm. Rubicon Theatre Company Producing Artistic Director Karyl Lynn Burns today announced the director and cast for OTHER DESERT CITIES, Jon Robin Baitz's highly lauded story about a family in the public eye whose members must find a new way forward when each person's beliefs and illusions related to a pivotal family event are called into question. Filled with richly drawn characters, dramatic plot elements, and witty social commentary, OTHER DESERT CITIES garnered five Tony nominations and was awarded Outstanding Play by the Outer Critics Circle. The show takes its title from a sign off California's I-10 freeway where one continues on to Palm Springs or exits toward "Other Desert Cites."

At a ceremony held last night in New York, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs announced the winners of the 2015 MAC Awards. The show was hosted by Karen Mason, with musical direction by Barry Levitt, and was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Lennie Watts.

Emerging as a pop diva in the 1970s, Maureen McGovern has been somewhere on the scene for decades. She still has a powerful, well-honed instrument, sufficient to perform confident acapella. However, It's difficult to tell from her new 54 Below show, Sing, My Sisters, Sing! Celebrating Women Singer/Songwriters, whether the artist's range has vastly diminished or arrangements and rhythms, often unsympathetic to original tunes, are so similar as to make an otherwise diverse selection of songs homogeneous.
