As previously announced on BroadwayWorld.com with an audition notice, HANDS ON A HARDBODY, the musical based on the 1997 documentary of the same name, will have a three week reading in Manhattan.

La Jolla Playhouse will present a reading of its commissioned musical Hands on a Hardbody, written by Pulitzer Prize-winner and 2011 Playhouse Gala Honoree Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife), Amanda Green (High Fidelity) and Trey Anastasio of the popular band Phish. Directed by Neil Pepe (Speed-the-Plow) and choreographed by Benjamin Millipied (Black Swan), the Hands on a Hardbody reading will take place in New York on April 8th and 9th (by invitation).

92nd Street Y has announced the 2011 line-up for Lyrics & LyricistsTM, its celebrated American Songbook series. Deborah Grace Winer will return for her third season as artistic director of the series. Guest artistic directors of the season's individual concerts will be John Pizzarelli, Jessica Molaskey, David Loud, Ted Chapin, and Amanda Green; Winer will create one of the season's shows as well.

On March 7, The 24 Hour Company teamed with the Exchange to produce The 24 Hour Musicals at The Gramercy Theatre. Four brand new musicals were written, cast, rehearsed and performed in a single day, featuring an star-studded line up of Broadway performers, composers, writers, directors, choreographers and musical directors. Creative director Ted Sperling (musical director of Light in the Piazza, South Pacific and Guys & Dolls), led some of the theatre's brightest talent from Broadway, film and television as they collaborated under one roof, in one day, to create original musical theatre. The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2011 Jonathan Larson® Grants are Danny Larsen (Composer/Co-Lyricist) & Michelle Elliott (Bookwriter/Co-Lyricist), Cloaked; Marisa Michelson (Composer) & Joshua H. Cohen (Bookwriter/Lyricist), Tamar and the River; and Andy Monroe (Composer), Jack Lechner (Lyricist) & Michael Zam (Bookwriter), The Kid. The prestigious grants, totaling $10,000, will be presented on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at a private event in New York City. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

High-flying original musical comedy 'Bring It On: The Musical' that debuted at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, launches its national tour with a six-week engagement at the Center Theatre Group / Ahmanson Theatre in November. 'Bring It On: The Musical' features libretto by Tony Award-winner Jeff Whitty ('Avenue Q'), music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda ('In the Heights'), music by Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt ('next to normal') and lyrics by Broadway lyricist Amanda Green ('High Fidelity'). Last night, February 14, Naked Angels celebrated its 25th anniversary as one of the most innovative theatre companies in New York with a spectacular Gala, including cocktails, an elegant dinner and skits written and performed by Naked Angels company members.
