Ballet Chicago Studio Company presents Platinum Anniversary Concerts 5/6

Ballet Chicago celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Ballet Chicago Studio Company (BCSC) with a concert program featuring a world premiere by choreographer Frank Chaves and revivals of works by George Balanchine, Ballet Chicago Founder and Artistic Director Dan Duell, and Resident Choreographer Ted Seymour. Performances are Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph Drive, Chicago.

Ailey II makes its NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts debut March 29 - April 2, sharing two programs of premieres and returning favorites with audiences during its annual New York season. The 12 young dancers return to the New York stage after a 25-city world tour to share their artistry and prowess in an expansive repertory by emerging and established choreographers, including Leila Da Rocha, Jean Emile, Jae Man Joo, Ray Mercer, Bridget L. Moore, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater member Jamar Roberts, and former Ailey dancer Marcus Jarrell Willis.

Bryce Dessner Featured in NSO DECLASSIFIED

The National Symphony Orchestra, led by guest conductor Jacomo Bairos, launches its second season of DECLASSIFIED at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall on Friday, November 18, with composer/performer Bryce Dessner, the multifaceted guitarist of the indie rock band The National. This season builds on the momentum of last year's inaugural season of DECLASSIFIED concerts, with integrated activities and aesthetics in the Kennedy Center Grand Foyer, pre- and post- concert. All tickets are $39.

Ailey II's New York Season at Ailey Citigroup Theater, 3/30-4/10

Ailey II's “indefatigable, virtuosic, and relentlessly sexy” dancers (Los Angeles Times) return to the Ailey Citigroup Theater with two programs of premieres and returning audience favorites. The upcoming New York season comes on the heels of the company's 26-city tour.  During a 14-performance engagement held over two weeks, their “off-the-charts energy” (The New Yorker) will be amplified in diverse repertory by emerging and established choreographers, including Jean Emile, Jamar Roberts, Ray Mercer, Kyle “JustSole” Clark, Dwight Rhoden, Manuel Vignoulle, and Jennifer Archibald.

Ailey II Launches World Tour in 30 Cities, 9/17 - 3/28

Ailey II embarks on a 31-city world tour from September 17th through March 28th with 24 domestic cities including Kansas City, MO; Baton Rouge, LA; Columbia, SC; Memphis, TN; and Birmingham, AL. The international portion of Ailey II's tour takes the dancers to Poland, Germany, Luxembourg, France, and Canada (full schedule on page two).

McKenzie Fine Art has announced an exhibition of new paintings by California-based artist Tom Leaver, opening tonight, March 22nd with a reception for the artist from 6 to 8 p.m., and running through Sunday, April 28, 2013. This will be the artist's fifth solo exhibition with the gallery.

Juilliard's 'New Dances: Edition 2012' Opens Next Wednesday

Juilliard Dance premieres four newly-choreographed works by choreographers Camille A. Brown (1st-Year Class), Emery LeCrone (2nd-Year Class), Susan Shields (3rd-Year Class), and Jarek Cemerek (4th-Year Class) in this year's New Dances: Edition 2012, under the direction of Artistic Director Lawrence Rhodes. All Juilliard Dance Division students perform on the program, and they have been working closely with these four innovative choreographers as they create new works on each of the Dance Division's classes.
