KTC Chooses Humana As One Of The Top Spring Festivals

The Kentucky Tourism Council (KTC) has chosen Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival of New American Plays as one of the Top 10 Spring Festivals and Events alongside other popular events like the Kentucky Derby Festival and Abbey Road on the River.

Actors Theatre of Louisville is about to open its 33rd Humana Festival of New American Plays (March 1 - April 11) made possible by the Humana Foundation Inc. Past Humana Festival plays have gone on to win Pulitzer Prizes or receive regional theatre productions across the country and off-Broadway. Actors Theatre has been a major force in revitalizing American playwriting for the past 30 years in its presentation of the renowned Humana Festival.

On Sunday October 19th, Marjorie de Hartog and Stella Ferrer, widows of Tony Award-winners Jan de Hartog and José Ferrer, were on hand to toast the opening of Keen Company's revival of The Fourposter.

Keen Company (Artistic Director Carl Forsman, Producer Wayne Kelton) will kick off its 2008-2009 season with a revival of the 1952 Tony Award-winning comedy The Fourposter by Jan de Hartog, directed by Blake Lawrence. Starring Todd Weeks and Jessica Dickey, this production will begin performances on Tuesday, October 7 at The Clurman Theatre / Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. Opening night is scheduled for Sunday, October 19. The Fourposter will run through November 22.

Kesselring Prize for Playwriting announced by National Arts Club

Playwright Deb Margolin -- author of the plays 'Three Seconds in the Key,' 'Bringing the Fisherman Home' and 'Rock Scissors Paper' -- is the recipient of the $15,000 '2005 Kesselring Prize' for playwriting, it has been announced by O. Aldon James, president of The National Arts Club, which presents the Kesselring each year to an emerging American playwright. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Kesselring Prize.
