Fifteen of the state's brightest and most-talented young musicians will display their impressive virtuosity and remarkable musicianship at the 2016 Arizona Musicfest Young Musicians Fall Concert on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix. Tickets are $20.

Cantata Singers' 2016-2017 season opens on October 15th at NEC's Jordan Hall with a concert featuring two Bach cantatas, and the virtuosic "Laetatus sum" for solo voices by Czech Baroque composer Jan Dismas Zelenka. Bach's Cantata 109, "Ich glaube, lieber Herr, hilf meinem Unglauben," examines the inner conflict between doubt and faith with deeply engaging, intricately woven music. The fiery finale sets one of the most famous of Lutheran hymns, "Durch Adams Fall," to music. The radiant and richly expressive Cantata 147, "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben," features what has become some of Bach's most famous music (known colloquially as "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"). eweddle@cantatasingers.org

The world premiere of playwright Terry Ray's ELECTRICITY's perfect for those rarefied romantics out there who still believe true love can be found, whatever the obstacles. With a three-decade time span, audiences must check their need for plausibility at the theatre front door in order to accept two actors aging thirty years within the ninety-minute performance.

Boston loves Italian opera

Inspired by the musical connection of people, place, and culture, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director Christopher Wilkins, announces the 2015 summer's free concerts at the DCR's Hatch Shell. Free concerts will be held every Wednesday evening (7 p.m.) beginning July 15 thru August 26, 2015. Neighborhood concerts and youth engagement residencies featuring Brazilian composer, pianist and vocalist Clarice Assad continue throughout the summer beginning on July 12 (6 p.m.) at Pinebank Promontory in Jamaica Plain and through August 14 at John F.
