Cape Cod Theatre Company's production of Little Women: The Broadway Musical is really something special. As I couldn't give you a visceral explanation of what it made me feel, this is a story who's truest depth and exquisiteness - its true emotion - is to be found once the journey is complete, and even then does a new beginning have the means of springing forth. Both the story and the way it was performed on stage, with music to bring out what is nothing less than extraordinary about four average girls and what their lives amount to, has such a spark to it as only CCTC can make happen - not only with this but with every show the group chooses to do.
Cape Cod Theatre Company will remount it's acclaimed 2008 production of Little Women with its original stars Caitlin Mills (Spelling Bee, Suessical) and Richard Jay Sullivan (La Cage, Class Act) as Jo March and Professor Bhaer. This time of year faithful pilgrims travel to Bethlehem. My pilgrimage this year was accidental and secular. During a whirlwind trip to Manhattan, I happened upon The Workshop Theater on West 36th Street in Manhattan, a place where great plays are born. Their Sundays@ Six program, in the Jewel Box Theater is free to the public and requires no tickets or reservations.

In an ideal world, maturity nurtures faith and confidence to withstand life's greatest tests. Or does it? BELIEVERS by Ken Jaworowski, a haunting drama, tests that assumption with the generational tale of a couple who marry in a state of faith but find their belief undone twenty years later when life tests them more severely than people ought to be. WorkShop Theater, 312 West 36th Street, will present the play's world premiere run tonight, September 25 to October 17, directed by Alex Dmitriev.
