Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of Christopher Rouse's 'Odna Zhizn' - a New York Philharmonic Commission- and two works by Mozart: the Sinfonia concertante for Winds, featuring Philharmonic musicians, and the Symphony No. 41, Jupiter. Performances will be Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 12, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m. Appearing in solo roles in the Sinfonia concertante will be Principal Oboe Liang Wang, Acting Principal Clarinet Mark Nuccio in his Philharmonic subscription solo debut, Principal Bassoon Judith LeClair, and Principal Horn Philip Myers.
The New York Philharmonic's EUROPE / WINTER 2010 tour, the Orchestra's first journey to Europe under the baton of Music Director Alan Gilbert, has concluded following two sold-out concerts at the Barbican Centre in London, England.
Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director, today announced Carnegie Hall's 2010-2011 season, consisting of 180 performances and extensive educational programs, featuring collaborations with many of the world's greatest musicians and ensembles from the worlds of classical, pop, jazz, and world music, with concerts presented on Carnegie Hall's three stages and throughout New York City. The New York Philharmonic will inaugurate MUSICAL SUPPERS, four post-concert suppers featuring menus created by world renowned chefs Alain Ducasse, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Lidia Bastianich, and Daniel Boulud.
