INTAR to Open New Season with TEACH, TEACHER, TEACHEST, 9/12-10/5

INTAR presents the first production of its 2014 - '15 season: Teach, Teacher, Teachest by David Koteles, directed by Daniel Irizarry, beginning September 12th and continuing through October 5th only. Opening Night is set for Thursday, September 18th.

The Brick Launches BRICK U

The Brick launches its first education program in 2014 with BRICK U. A dedicated workshop setting with expert teachers, the program offers unique, low-cost training in crucial arts-related skills unavailable in large universities. Classes are small and take place in The Brick performance space at 579 Metropolitan Avenue, in W illiamsburg, Brooklyn. T eachers include Adam Symkowicz, Crystal Skillman, Doris Mirescu, Morgan Gould, Robert K. Gardner and Max Azulay.

F*It Club, the New York Innovative Award-winning film and theatre company, joins acclaimed partner companies EST/Youngblood, Naked Angels, Studio 42, and Waterwell at The Green Building in Brooklyn with GAP Presents! Bushwick Starr and Studio 42 to Present IMPORTANT HATS OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY in 2015

The Bushwick Starr and Studio 42 will present the world premiere production of Important Hats of the Twentieth Century by Nick Jones (Emmy-nominated for Orange is the New Black, Trevor), directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God, Trevor).The production will run from October 7th through 31st, 2015, at The Bushwick Starr. The cast and full creative team will be announced in the spring of 2015.

CLOWN BAR Extends Through 8/23 at The Box

Award-winning Pipeline Theatre Company announces the extension of its critically acclaimed production of CLOWN BAR by Adam Szymkowicz, with music & additional lyrics by Adam Overett. Directed by Andrew Neisler, performances will now run through August 23 at legendary clown haunt The Box.

Ars Nova Now Accepting Applications for Play Group 2015

Ars Nova is now accepting applications for Play Group, a vibrant and eclectic group of emerging writers who gather twice a month at Ars Nova to share new work and get peer feedback. The group offers members the chance to develop their plays with peer support; to be inspired by each other's work; to form collaborative relationships; and to build a strong sense of community within Ars Nova. All emerging playwrights are eligible for membership. If selected, new members will be invited to join for a period of two years beginning in January of 2015.

CLOWN BAR Begins Performances this Weekend at The Box

After a critically acclaimed and extended run in 2013, Award-winning Pipeline Theatre Company will present an encore engagement of CLOWN BAR by Adam Szymkowicz, with music & additional lyrics by Adam Overett. It will be directed by Andrew Neisler. Originally announced to return to its original venue, the production will instead transfer to legendary clown haunt The Box beginning June 14. Opening is slated for June 21.

Today, May 3rd, Studio 42 will present the Unproducible works of Meghan Deans - winner of the '13 Unproducible Smackdown (Ashore), Eric Dufault (Year of the Rooster), Brett Epstein - Fan Slam winner (I Loved Sam Stone), Leah Nanako Winkler (Death for Sydney Black), and Lauren Yee (Ching Chong Chinaman). Direction by Liz Carlson (The Playwrights Realm's Lottie in the Late Afternoon), Matt Dickson (INTAR's The Lowest Form of Writing), John Giampietro (EST's Year of the Rooster), and Jesse Jou (Rising Circle Theater Collectives's Say You Heard My Echo). The plays of the Smackdown are produced by Alyssa Anderson, Ying Le, Greg Nobile, Meghan Pressman, and Lico Whitfield.

Pipeline's CLOWN BAR Will Return for Extended Run, 5/10-7/26

After a critically acclaimed and extended run in 2013, Award-winning Pipeline Theatre Company will present an encore engagement of CLOWN BAR by Adam Szymkowicz, with music & additional lyrics by Adam Overett. Staged in a Lower East Side 'dive' bar, this environmental production is directed by Andrew Neisler. Previews begin May 10 at Parkside Lounge with opening slated for June 6.

Janine Nabers' SERIAL BLACK FACE Wins 2014 Yale Drama Series

Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman has selected playwright Janine Nabers as the winner of the 2014 Yale Drama Series for her play Serial Black Face, chosen from 1638 entries from 41 countries. As winner of the competition, Serial Black Face will be published by Yale University Press, receive a staged reading at Lincoln Center Theater's Claire Tow Theater, and Ms. Nabers will be presented with the David Charles Horn Prize, a cash award of $10,000.
