Playwrights Horizons Names Adam Greenfield New Associate Artistic Director

Playwrights Horizons announced today the promotion of the theater company's Director of New Play Development Adam Greenfield to Associate Artistic Director. This is the first major change to the Artistic leadership of the acclaimed organization since Mr. Sanford was promoted from the same associate position to become Artistic Director in 1996.

Kim Davies' SMOKE Plays thru Feb 1 at The Flea

The Flea Theater presents Kim Davies' World Premiere Smoke, directed by Flea Resident Director Tom Costello (The Wundelsteipen (and other difficult roles for young people)) and featuring members of The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, 'where 50 Shades of Grey dances on the surface of BDSM, Smoke cuts to the core.' Performances will now run through February 1, 2015 at The Flea, where performances started in August of 2014.

Echo Theater Company's FUGUE to Run 2/14-3/22

Playwright Tommy Smith and director Chris Fields (the team behind last season's Firemen, named one of the "Best Stage Plays of 2014" by Los Angeles Times theater critic Charles McNulty) trace three real-life love triangles in a passionate tale of intrigue, jealousy and music. World Premiere of SHESH YAK Begins at Rattlestick Next Month

Rattlestick Playwrights and LaiLou Productions have announced that the world premiere of Shesh Yak, written by Laith Nakli and directed by Bruce McCarty, will begin previews Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South. The official opening night is set for Thursday, January 29, 2015. The production will play through Sunday, February 22, 2015.

POCATELLO Begins Tonight at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons' production of POCATELLO, the world premiere of a new play by Obie, Drama Desk and Lortel awards winner and 2014 MacArthur Foundation 'Genius' grantee Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale at PH, The Few, A Bright New Boise), is directed by Davis McCallum (The Whale at PH, The Few, London Wall, A Bright New Boise, Water by the Spoonful). The play is the third production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season. The production will begin previews tonight, November 21 with an opening night set for Monday, December 15. The limited engagement will play through Sunday evening, January 4, 2015 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs to Present IN THE ROOM, OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY

The Brown University/Trinity Repertory MFA Program is thrilled to present Brown alum Sarah Ruhl's Tony Award-nominated play. In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play, directed by Flordelino Lagundino ('15), which opens December 4th. The play explores the way late-nineteenth century society viewed sexuality, femininity and technology. In the Next Room will run from December 4-13 at the Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire Street, Providence, RI. General admission is $12 with a discounted price of $6 for students and seniors. Hani Furstenberg to Succeed Gayle Rankin in CABARET on Broadway

Roundabout Theatre Company announces Hani Furstenberg will assume the role of "Fraulein Kost" on Monday, December 22. Original cast member Gayle Rankin will play her final performance as "Fraulein Kost" on Sunday, December 21. Cabaret is playing a limited engagement on Broadway through March 29, 2015 starring Alan Cumming as "Emcee" (through March 29) and Emma Stone as "Sally Bowles" (through February 1).
