Staybridge Suites Launches BIG BROADWAY BREAK Contest

Staybridge Suites, Times Square launches 'Big Broadway Break' contest for aspiring performers. The contest is open to performers nationwide by submitting a video of themselves performing one of two classic Broadway songs, 'Give My Regards to Broadway' and 'I'm Always Chasing Rainbows' to Staybridge Suites Facebook page(www.facebook.com/staybridgesuitestimessquare).

The Amoralists Present AMERISSIAH At Theatre 80 St. Marks, Previews Begin 6/3

Riding high from their last two wildly successful productions of Happy In The Poorhouse and The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, The Amoralists present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Amerissiah, written and directed by Derek Ahonen. Amerissiah runs from June 3 to 28, 2010 in a limited engagement at Theatre 80 St. Marks, located at 80 St. Marks Place between 1st and 2nd Avenues in NYC. Previews begin June 3 for a June 5 opening.

Yesterday evening, May 10, the Algonquin Hotel hosted the 75th Annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Award ceremony honoring the best of the 2009-2010 theatre season. This year's honorees included casts and creative teams of The Orphans' Home Cycle, Fences, Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens; Viola Davis, Annie Baker, and Hallie Foote. Presenters included Denzel Washington, who presented the Award for Sustained Achievement to his Fence's co-star Viola Davis, Tony Kushner and Marian Seldes.

Stenborg and Henderson Receive Equity's Richard Seff Award

Helen Stenborg and Stephen McKinley Henderson have been named to receive the annual Richard Seff Award presented by the Actors' Equity Foundation. The award, a $1,000 check and crystal trophy for each, honors a veteran female and male character actor for the best performance in a supporting role in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production.

Arianda and Heck Receive Equity's Clarence Derwent Award

The Clarence Derwent Award for most promising female and male performers on the New York metropolitan scene, has gone to Nina Arianda and Bill Heck. The announcement was made by Arne Gundersen, president of the Actors' Equity Foundation, which administers the Award.

Amoralists End Run of HAPPY IN THE POORHOUSE 4/26

The Amoralists will close the run of their current Off-Broadway production of Happy In The Poorhouse on April 26th. The World Premiere of Happy In The Poorhouse began performances on March 11 with an original closing date set for April 5.
