Jackalope Theatre Company, the Edgewater based group which cultivates theatre that manifests the adventure deeply rooted in the American mythos, announces their new storefront home - The Frontier, new company members, and their lineup of summer programming, including the world premiere of THE CASUALS, a remount of LONG WAY GO DOWN and the 4th ANNUAL LIVING NEWSPAPERS FESTIVAL.

LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL to Open at Stages St. Louis on 7/19

STAGES ST. LOUIS continues its record-breaking 27th Season when it turns St. Louis pink, with the romantic comedy, Legally Blonde, The Musical July 19th through August 18th . A plethora of upbeat music, dance and of course laughs, made the show a hit on Broadway in 2007. The Tony nominated score features the hilarious 'Omigod You Guys,' the sassy 'Bend and Snap' and the catchy 'Legally Blonde.'

Filming for the final HOBBIT installment is wrapping up, and just a few days after Ian McKellen's farewell, director Peter Jackson has now posted Orlando Bloom's to his Facebook page. Check out Bloom, who played Legolas in the LORD OF THE RINGS and HOBBIT trilogies, sing-along to the 2007 'They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard' viral video, below!

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announces William Shakespeare's Henry VIII, the first professional Chicago production in 400 years since its debut at Shakespeare's Globe in London. Staged by Artistic Director Barbara Gaines in CST's Courtyard Theater April 30-June 16, 2013, Henry VIII features a celebrated company of artists that includes Gregory Wooddell in the title role and Christina Pumariega as Anne Boleyn. The Jeff Awards Committee today announced 120 nominations in 25 categories of Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2012, and March 31, 2013. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff judges attended opening nights of 146 productions offered by 65 Non-Equity producing organizations. The judges recommended 54 of those shows, making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Thirty-three theatre companies received nominations.

As part of Aquila Theatre's National Endowment for the Humanities Chairman Special Award 3 year public program, Ancient Greeks / Modern Lives, four post-performance talks will be held after each performance of Herakles at BAM Fisher. Noted scholars will join combat veterans who have been involved in the project to discuss the themes of the play as they relate to the experience of the veteran community in America today and the wider society within which they live.

EEDC and Bergen Performing Arts Center Sign Lease On Former Bennett Studios

Following approval by the Englewood City Council and their respective boards, The Englewood Economic Development Corporation and the Bergen Performing Arts Center are pleased to announce the signing of a long-term lease for the new home of the bergenPAC Performing Arts School, to be located in the former Bennett Studios / Railroad Station building on North Van Brunt Street. Renovation of the building is expected to begin immediately.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for its contemporary retelling of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, staged by acclaimed British director Jonathan Munby in his Chicago debut, February 5-March 24, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater. The production features a celebrated company of artists that includes Jeff Award-winning Chicago actor David Darlow in the title role, Canada's Stratford Festival favorite Dion Johnstone as Marc Antony, New York stage and screen actor Jason Kolotouros as Caius Cassius and British actor John Light as Marcus Brutus. The production also welcomes the return of veteran CST actors David Lively as Ligarius/Lepidus, Barbara E. Robertson as Calphurnia and Larry Yando as Casca.
