Northlight Theatre Ends Run of TEN CHIMNEYS, 4/15

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, presents Ten Chimneys by Jeffrey Hatcher, directed by Artistic Director BJ Jones. The production runsMarch 9 - April 15, 2012 at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd. The press opening is on Friday, March 16, 2012.

Florida Studio Theatre Presents RICHARD AND BETTY BURDICK PLAY READING SERIES, 5/7-21

Florida Studio Theatre announces its annual Richard and Betty Burdick Play Reading Series, which will present three new plays by contemporary, American playwrights. The series will take place in the Keating Theatre, on Monday, May 7 at 7:00pm, Saturday, May 12 at 2:00pm, and Monday, May 21 at 7:00pm, and is part of FST's Sarasota Festival of New Plays. Tickets for the series are 3 plays for $25, or individual play readings for $10. They may be purchased by calling the FST Box Office at (941) 366-9000 or by visiting http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org.

Mirror Stage to Continue FEED YOUR MIND Series With GROUND, 4/28 & 29

Mirror Stage will present the West Coast premiere reading of Ground on Saturday, April 28 at 8pm and Sunday, April 29 at 2pm at the Ethnic Cultural Theatre in Seattle. Feed Your Mind: Ground will be directed by Suzanne M. Cohen and feature Michael D. Blum (Chuy), Erwin Galan (Carl), Peggy Gannon (Zelda), Daniela Melgar (Angie), John Murray (Cooper) and Pilar O'Connell (Ines).

The Ruckus Theater Presents RUNG Workshop, 4/8-10

The Ruckus Theater presents the workshop premier of Rung by Matt Test, directed by Timo Aker. Rung explores the connection between voice and body. Casts for the project includes Chicago theater favorites and Ruckus regulars. Rung is performed at The Side Project Theatre (1439 W. Jarvis) April 8-10, 2012. The performance on Sunday, April 8th will begin at 3pm. All other performances are at 7:00pm. Tickets are pay what you can.

NCTF Announces Finalists for Theater Education Video Competition

This week the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) announced four finalists in its video competition aimed at highlighting the importance of theater education's contribution to crucial skill development needed for the 21st century workforce. Over 5,000 votes were cast on NCTF's Facebook page, which received over 13,000 visits during the competition.

PICT 2012 Season Kicks Off With IN THE NEXT ROOM, Beginning 4/19

PICT launches its 2012 season with the Pittsburgh premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Pulitzer finalist In the Next Room or the vibrator play. The production features Brad Heberlee as Dr. Givings, Megan McDermott as Catherine Givings, Jessica Frances Dukes as Elizabeth, and Melinda Helfrich as Sabrina Daldry. Alan Stanford directs.

THE BOY WHO SEES Plays in Philadelphia, 4/11-29

Nova D Arts Collective, Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble, Company Theatre, and GoKash Productions present "The Boy Who Sees" by Davon Williams, winner of three Philadelphia Urban Theater Festival awards and starring Kash Goins, Erica Brown, Hasan Malik, Andre Brown, and Brett Gray. Jesimiel Jenkins directs. Choreographer: A.C. Gilmore choreographs. The show plays April 11th - April 29th at First Philadelphia Charter School.

END OF THE RAINBOW Opens Tonight at the Belasco

The Broadway production of END OF THE RAINBOW will open tonight, April 2, at the Belasco Theatre. Michael Cumpsty, Tom Pelphrey and Jay Russell join two-time Oliver Award-winner Tracie Bennett in Peter Quilter's acclaimed play about the legendary Judy Garland, directed by the Tony Award winning Terry Johnson.

Lookingglass Theatre Extends CASCABEL Through April 29

Lookingglass Theatre, Frontera Grill and Silverguy Entertainment announce additional performances of Rick Bayless in Cascabel: Dinner - Daring - Desire, a theatrical adventure featuring a feast, circus acts, and a love story starring celebrity chef Rick Bayless. The culinary and theatrical experience has been extended an additional week, through April 29, 2012, at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works.

George Street Playhouse Continues Pride Nights with 12 ANGRY MEN, 3/29

George Street Playhouse continues its series of Pride Nights for the Gay Community on March 29, following the performance of the Playhouse's smash hit courtroom drama, Twelve Angry Men. For $55 patrons will receive premium seating for the 8pm performance, and admission to the post-show reception at Mike's Courtside Bar and Grill featuring complimentary snacks, drink specials and door prizes.

San Jose Rep's GOD OF CARNAGE Begins Previews Tonight; Full Cast Info

The Bay Area premiere of San Jose Rep's God of Carnage begins previews tonight. This winner of the 2009 Tony Award® for Best Play was written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. The production runs from March 22 to April 15, 2012, with Opening Night on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 pm.

Photo Flash: Berkley Rep Presents RED, 3/22 - 4/29

The Broadway play Red comes to Berkeley Repertory Theatre in March, staged as a valedictory by Obie Award-winner Les Waters as he departs the Bay Area to take the reins at Actors Theatre of Louisville. John Logan, the Oscar-nominated author of Aviator and Gladiator, won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for this feverish 90-minute drama. Now Waters and two exceptional actors bring this powerful play to local audiences. Red begins previews on the intimate Thrust Stage on March 16, opens March 22, and runs through April 29.

MAMMA ROMA to Conclude Cherry Lane Theatre's MENTOR PROJECT 2012

A new play about the late Italian actress Anna Magnani, MAMMA ROMA -- written and performed by Anne DeSalvo, winner of the Obie Award for her performance in GEMINI -- will be presented by Cherry Lane Theatre's MENTOR PROJECT from April 3 to 14 at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan. MAMMA ROMA is directed by Rob Urbinati. David Rambo (THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS) has been Ms. DeSalvo's mentor for the play.

Tony Winning Best Play RED Opens At Florida Rep

Florida Repertory Theatre announced the opening of Red, 2010's electrifying and Tony-Winning BEST PLAY from the Oscar-nominated author of The Aviator, Gladiator and Hugo. Red is a provocative portrait of an angry and briliant man, expressionist painter, Mark Rothko. Playing March 6-25.
