The Palm Beach Institute for the Entertainment Arts (PBIEA) is offering  audiences a “feel good” play for the holiday season. Good People, a Tony nominated play, provides a look at life and relationships in South Boston, a blue collar neighborhood with a primarily Irish Catholic demographic.

Managing Director Donna M. Carbone announced that the Palm Beach Institute for the Entertainment Arts will welcome back audiences with a light-hearted look at changing relationships as people get older. Pluck You!, an original play, provides a look at three generations and their views on love and life over a 50 year span. a?oeAging is not easy,a??  Long Island rockers Moon Tooth have announced the upcoming release of Violent Grief: Acoustic Selections will be out July 31st via Pure Noise Records.

Miami New Drama (MiND) at Colony Theatre opens the season with a ground-breaking production of the classic drama, Our Town. MiND's Artistic Director, Michel Hausmann, has re-envisioned Thornton Wilder's iconic tale of life, love and death in small town America for 21st century Miami, incorporating translations in Spanish by Pulitzer Prize-winner, Nilo Cruz, and in Creole by renowned playwright, Jeff Augustin. This production marks the first time that the Thornton Wilder Estate has allowed the text of this Pulitzer Prize winning drama to be altered. Our Town premieres Thursday, October 26, and runs through Sunday, November 19, at the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach).

The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre recently announced its fall/winter schedule, which includes a new and exciting intensive on-camera Acting in Commercials course taught by television and radio personality Jo Ann Pflug.

The Brooklyn Museum announced today the extension of Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties, The powerful exhibition, originally scheduled to close on July 6, will remain on view through Sunday, July 13.

Activism and artistic practice intersect in Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties, a presentation of 103 works by 66 artists that is among the few exhibitions to explore how painting, sculpture, graphics, and photography not only responded to the political and social turmoil of the era but also helped to influence its direction. Debuting at the Brooklyn Museum, where it will be on view from March 7 through July 6, 2014, the touring exhibition marks the fiftieth anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the events leading to this historic moment, and the aftermath of the legislation.

The Brooklyn Museum has acquired an important collection of works of art created in conjunction with the revolutionary Black Arts Movement of the late 1960s to mid-1970s. The group of forty-four works by twenty-six artists was assembled by former Chicago dealers David Lusenhop and Melissa Azzi, whose goal was to preserve and promote works by leading African American visual artists involved in the movement. The acquisition was made by purchase directly from Lusenhop and Azzi as private collectors with a combination of funds devoted to the collection of American art at the Brooklyn Museum.

During May and June the Brooklyn Museum will present a wide array of public programs for adults, teens, families, and kids including art-making classes and workshops; talks and tours; Thursdays @ 7, a series of engaging adult programs that takes place every Thursday evening; and the return of the Audiophile concert series.

The Brooklyn Museum is inaugurating a new collecting initiative that will focus on the acquisition of works by African American artists that were created between the mid-nineteenth century and 1945.
