Andrew Lloyd Webber to Waive SCHOOL OF ROCK Fees for Schools Producing the Musical

In his latest motion of support for promoting arts education in schools, Andrew Lloyd Webber said in an interview with The Times that he plans to allow schools to produce his latest hit musical, School of Rock, for free. Moreover, Lloyd Webber will provide the groups with scripts, scores, and other necessary materials for the musical. 'It's a no-brainer. School of Rock is about kids making music. Let's get on with it. You have to get music back into everybody's DNA again,' Lloyd Webber said, with regard to his opinion that schools should be able to perform musicals before they finish their commercial runs on Broadway, the West End, and elsewhere.

Nearly 900 graduates from 68 countries received degrees today at Berklee's 2016 commencement. Berklee President Roger H. Brown presented honorary doctor of music degrees to music legends Rita Moreno, the Isley Brothers, Lucian Grainge, and Milton Nascimento. Moreno delivered the commencement address to the graduating class and an estimated audience of nearly 7,000 guests at the Agganis Arena. The annual commencement concert, held the previous evening at the Agganis Arena, featured some of the college's most accomplished students paying tribute to the honorees with performances of music associated with their careers.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is heading back to Broadway with School of Rock, which begins previews this fall, but first he made a pit stop at the House of Lords to speek about the cost of theatre training in the UK. According to the stage, Lloyd Webber said in a speech: "It is extremely worrying that, to go to a stage school or theatre college, you now have to pay such an enormous amount of money that it is being left to foundations and others to fill the funding gap with scholarships. It concerns me how many people may be slipping through the gap.'

Indian super-star musician and composer A. R. Rahman, best known in the United States for his Academy Award-, Golden Globe-, and Grammy-winning score for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, will appear in person for the world premiere of Jai Ho, a new documentary about his career, at Museum of the Moving Image on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. The film, directed by Umesh Aggarwal, traces milestones in Rahman's personal and professional life and features spectacular concert footage and interviews with Rahman, Danny Boyle, Shekhar Kapur, Mani Ratnam, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and other collaborators. After the screening, Rahman will participate in a discussion moderated by Scott Foundas, Chief Film Critic, Variety.
Walt Disney Records to Release MILLION DOLLAR ARM Soundtrack Next Week

Walt Disney Records will release the original motion picture soundtrack for Disney's 'Million Dollar Arm' digitally on May 13 th and physically on May 19 th. The film will be released in the U.S. on May 16 th, 2014. Featuring music composed and performed by two-time Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the soundtrack includes collaborations with Australian hip-hop artist Iggy Azalea, Grammy-nominated rapper Wale and Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall. Described by Variety as a 'jubilant wall-to-wall song score,' Rahman has created a powerful and driving sound that blends classic Indian styles and instruments with rap, rock and electronica delivering a celebratory soundscape to America's favorite sport.
