ICP Announces 2019 Infinity Awards Honorees


The International Center of Photography (ICP), the world's leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture, today announced the 2019 honorees of its annual Infinity Awards, the leading honor for excellence in the field. The 35th annual ICP Infinity Awards will be held on the evening of Tuesday, April 2 at Ziegfeld Ballroom (141 West 54th Street, New York City). The event is ICP's largest fundraiser and benefits its education and exhibition programs.

MCCC's Trenton Gallery Hosts Gary Saretzky Retrospective


Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) James Kerney Campus Gallery (JKCG) presents "Gary Saretzky Retrospective - 1972 to the Present," an exhibit that chronicles the work and influences of this well-known Lawrence photographer. The show runs from Wednesday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Jan. 10. A community reception and artist talk take place Wednesday, Dec. 5, 5 to 7 p.m. The talk begins at 6 p.m.

From Friday, August 17 through Thursday, August 30 BAMcinematek presents Say It Loud: Cinema in the Age of Black Power, 1966-1981. A cinematic companion to the Brooklyn Museum's exhibit Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, the series explores revolutionary and relevant records of a struggle that continues to this day. As black consciousness spread across the globe in the mid-1960s, it gave rise to a radical cinema that both reflected and worked to further the cause of African-American liberation. "These films are confrontational, experimental, and ripe for (re)discovery, powerfully evoking their own time, and unarguably speaking to today's fractious social and political climate," explains series programmer Ashley Clark.
