The Boston College Arts Council will present its 2022 Alumni Arts Award for Distinguished Achievement to Jeff Augustin, Class of 2008, an acclaimed and award-winning playwright and screenwriter whose plays have been performed at high-profile festivals and venues across the country. He will be on campus as the special alumni guest during the University's 24th annual Arts Festival, April 28-30, 2022, and participate in festival programming.  

Grammy and Tony Award Winning Music and Theater Producer Sean Patrick Flahaven, a 1995 Boston College alumnus, will return to his alma mater this week as the special guest and alumni honoree at Boston College's 23rd annual Arts Festival.

Award-winning actor, director, and arts educator Maurice Emmanuel Parent has joined the Boston College Theatre Department as the Rev. J. Donald Monan, S.J. Professor in Theatre Arts for the 2018-2019 academic year. [Jpg of Parent attached.]

The Boston College Theatre Department has announced that producer Nick Scandalios (a 1987 alumnus) and designer Scott Clyve are the University's Rev. J. Donald Monan, S.J. Professors in Theatre Arts for the 2017-2018 academic year. Both have had previous professional involvement with BC.

The Boston College Theatre Department will host Tony Award winner Diane Paulus, who will give a lecture at the University's Robsham Theater Arts Center on Thursday, February 9 at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

Stoneham Theatre presents the New England premiere of playwright Thomas Gibbons' UNCANNY VALLEY, a view into the not too distant future when researchers have found a way to extend the human lifespan through artificial intelligence. While it raises more questions than it answers, its rich subtext and the fine work of Nancy E. Carroll and Lewis D. Wheeler combine to make this a compelling piece of theater.

New Repertory Theatre presents the Boston area premiere of the final component of Richard Nelson's four-play cycle. Weylin Symes, the producing artistic director of Stoneham Theatre, returns to the helm with the stellar six-member cast of Joel Colodner, Laura Latreille, Karen MacDonald, Paul Melendy, Bill Mootos, and Sarah Newhouse. The actors are the strength of the production, providing a master class on working as an ensemble. REGULAR SINGING is a feel good drama, but, at two hours, less would be more.

Gloucester Stage opens its 36th season with the second play of Richard Nelson's four-part American epic collectively known as THE APPLE FAMILY PLAYS. Collaborating with Stoneham Theatre, each company will produce two of the plays between this year and next under the direction of Stoneham's Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes, with the same design team and outstanding cast of six actors on board for the entire project.

Acclaimed Broadway actor and 2005 Boston College alumnus Bryce Pinkham will return to BC's Robsham Theater Arts Center mainstage for a Theatre Department event on March 23 at 7 p.m.

The first of four APPLE FAMILY PLAYS to be staged in collaboration between Stoneham Theatre and Gloucester Stage Company, THAT HOPEY CHANGEY THING has six quality Boston area actors who will stay with the project for the duration, but one hopes that the nutritional value of the plays going forward will change. The expected political zingers fail to materialize and this family spends more time eating than anything else.

Stoneham Theatre and Gloucester Stage join forces for two consecutive seasons to produce the New England premieres of all four of The Apple Family plays by Richard Nelson. The Boston College Theatre Department continues its 2013-2014 season with an exciting, non-traditional production of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters. The production will be directed by guest artist, David R. Gammons, the Theatre Department's Rev. J. Donald Monan, S.J. Professor in Theatre Arts for the Fall 2013 semester. The Boston College Theatre Department kicks off the 2013-2014 season with its production of Patrick Barlow's raucous comedy The 39 Steps. Directed by Theatre Department faculty member Luke Jorgensen, the production will be presented on the mainstage of the Robsham Theater Arts Center from October 17-20.
