Audio publisher Fabler Audio has announced the lineup of its inaugural 'theater-for-your-ears' initiative: Fabler Files, a collection of original short-form audio plays by Italian and American playwrights. Six playwrights received commissions to create original audio plays on the theme of 'Togetherness.'

Sara Koviak, Francesco Andolfi, and James B Kennedy - all alumni of Planet Connections Theatre Festivity - will star in Jose Rivera's new play, Lovesong (Imperfect) running February 8 - 22 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y, 344 E 14th Street, New York City. Core Creative Productions (CCP) -- the company that produced Chokehold, the Outstanding Overall Production of a New Play at the 2015 Planet Connections Festivity - returns to the festival this year with Drones, a new play written and directed by Anthony P. Pennino. This production is the world premiere of the play. Adapted from an incident in The Iliad, the play imagines an alternative reality where the war between Greece and Troy never ended; the modern technology of warfare (satellites, air strikes, unmanned drones, engineered pathogens) blends into the mythic landscape of Homer's poem.

In Italy, theaters are under real estate pressure; their precious locations and spacious buildings are eagerly sought by developers who try to convert valued cultural assets into commercial buildings.  This clash of artistic idealism and commercial opportunism has been dramatized by Italian playwright Alberto Bassetti in 'Dealers of Souls,' a new play whose American premiere will be presented November 12 to 29 by Theater for the New City in collaboration with Kairos Italy Theatre.  It's a supernatural drama in which two men are negotiating the sale of an old theater. The buyer, a clearly corrupt theater entrepreneur, promises to restore it but actually, he intends to turn it into a supermarket. Can his intrigues be stymied by a strange actress who squats in the building, who seems to be part hobo and part phantom of the theater?  Can she save the day?
