Roque Diaz BIO

Roque Diaz is a dynamic performer, composer and educator who has become widely known for the excitement, energy and enthusiasm he brings to stages and classrooms around the world.

Roque Diaz was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. At the age of four he moved to North Carolina with his parents. Roque began playing trumpet when he was 11 years old. In high school Roque played lead trumpet in his town's high school jazz band and marching band.

Roque attended East Carolina University for music performance. He is currently finishing up a degree in business from the University of Phoenix.

Roque has performed and/or recorded with musicians such as Grammy Award winners Josh Groban, Arturo Sandoval and Tim Morrison, Maynard Ferguson, Pat Sheridan, Dave O'Hannian, Brian Bowman, Joseph Allesi, John Faddis, the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra, and has been a guest soloist on many of these and other occasions across the U.S.


Since 2001, he's been starring in the Tony and Emmy Award winning Broadway show, "Blast!" and several other productions by the same company, performing well over a thousand shows thus far, across North America, Japan and the U.K.

Since 2005, Roque has been the feature trumpet Soloist for Blast! He will be performing all over North America in the 2007-08 season.

Roque looks forward to a long career of performing innovative and inspiring musical and theatrical experiences, and contributing to the greater good through the medium of art.
