The Collective NY Now Accepting Submissions for 10-Minute Play Festival

By:

The Collective NY seeks submissions for its 2nd Annual Collective:10 Play Festival. Original 10-minute plays will be selected to premiere in a fully-produced Fall 2014 run at a prominent Manhattan venue and published in The Collective:10 Play Anthology Vol. 2.

The inaugural Collective:10 Play Festival sold out Off-Broadway's McGinn Cazale Theatre in the fall of 2013. Plays by 12 different playwrights were staged by guest directors including Elizabeth Kemp, Jacqueline Knapp, Ellen Burstyn, and Eddie Kaye Thomas. Volume 1 of the play anthology, which includes works by Dave Hanson, David Thigpen, Craig McNulty and more, was published in December 2013 and is available in store at the Drama Book Shop in New York City and worldwide on Amazon.

Plays of all genres and subjects are considered. The only guidelines are that the plays be 10 minutes in length and that they must speak to The Collective NY's mission to be emotionally truthful, socially relevant, and accessible.

To submit: Playwrights must register by e-mailing their name, address, phone number and the title of the play to: Collective10@thecollective-ny.org. Writers will receive a registration number and format details for submission. Registration deadline is April 5, 2014. Selections will be announced in July.

The Collective unites professional artists who share a responsibility to create work in the contemporary American Theatre. Modeled after the Group Theatre, The Collective was founded in 2007 by graduates of the William Esper Studioas a not-for-profit company that develops and produces original work for stage and screen. Recent productions have included a revival of Frank McGuinness's Someone Who'll Watch Over Me and the critically acclaimed television series Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Centralm written, created and produced by founding member, Amy Schumer

The Collective:10 Play Festival is presented as part of The Collective's "No Empty Seats" initiative in which up to half the seats for every performance are made available on a free and pay-what-you-can basis. This program is made possible by the company's generous donors and patrons.
