LOVE/SICK to Kick off New Series at American Academy of Dramatic Arts, 6/27
Join the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for MAIN STAGE LIVE and be the first to experience the new workshop series of inspired original plays being developed and performed at The Academy. These performances will bring together noted industry professionals with Academy graduates who will perform in the series. The first production will be a staged reading of John Cariani's new play, Love/Sick, directed by Daniel Winerman and produced by Andrew Polk.
John Cariani (playwright) is an actor and a playwright. As an actor he has appeared on and off Broadway, and in several films and television shows. As a playwright, he is best known for his first play, Almost, Maine, which opened off-Broadway in 2006 and has since become one of the most frequently produced plays in the country. Love/Sick is John's newest play and he wishes to thank Andy, Dan, and these excellent and very game Academy actors for this great chance to workshop it.
Andrew Polk (producer): As Artistic Director of The Cape Cod Theatre Project for 17 years, Andrew was responsible for the development of over 60 new American plays. Over half of those plays have since gone on to productions on Broadway, off-Broadway, Regionally and around the world. He is an Associate Artist at The American Conservatory Theater, and a Founder of The Cape Cod Theatre Project.
