A SPANISH HARLEM STORY Set for Fall 2015 Run at The American Theatre of Actors
A SPANISH HARLEM STORY written by Steve Silver and directed by Laurie Rae Waugh, runs September 30 - October 11 at The American Theatre of Actors, located at 314 West 54th St. 2nd Floor, NYC (btw 8th/9th avenues), playing Wednesday - Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday (September 13 & 20) at 3:00 p.m.
"There comes a time when people have to decide how much sin they can live with," says acclaimed director Laurie Rae Waugh in describing playwright Steve Silver's gripping drama about life north of East 110th Street, premiering at the American Theater of Actors. Her realistic and gritty style has always been a perfect match for the unapologetic prose of Mr. Silver. Their previous collaborations were a pair of acclaimed productions of his plays about New York's Midtown West - Hell's Kitchen (The Prince of Hell's Kitchen and The Watchtower). Now the pair moves uptown for A Spanish Harlem Story featuring Mr. Silver and Rooki Towari, Larry Fleischman, Ken Coughlin, and Eliana Gonzalez.
Steve Silver won two Jean Dalrymple Awards for Best Playwright from The American Theatre of Actors for PARTNERS and THE PRINCE OF HELL'S KITCHEN. Laurie Rae Waugh served as stage manager for the Broadway Cares July 4, 1987 performance benefiting STAMP OUT AIDS dedicated to Michael Bennett.
