Women Get The Last Laugh As Men Go Over The Hill In THE MANOPAUSE BOYS

"The ManOPause Boys," a new musical comedy with book and lyrics by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, and music by Wayland Pickard, celebrates the recent acquisition of its performance rights with two Tri-State area shows later this month.

The show will perform at NYC's Triad Theatre on Friday, August 24, and the Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan, NJ on Saturday, August 25. While more 2018 dates will be added, the musical comedy will kick-off a national tour in February at the Clermont Performing Arts Center in Florida. Off Broadway Touring (OBT), based in NYC, is the show's booking agent.

"The ManOPause Boys" takes a comical look at men adjusting to male menopause. Through such original songs as "My Prostate is the Size of a Buick," "I Just Took a Pill Called Viagra," "My God I Am My Father," "My Get Up and Go Just Got Up and Went," "In Praise of the Older Woman," and an ode to snoring sleep mates called "Noises in the Night," the production reaches the conclusion that 50 is the new funny!

According to Milmore, the musical, which has played to sold-out houses in LA, NYC and NJ, was inspired by a magazine article.

"Composer Wayland Pickard came to us, having seen a Time Magazine cover story titled 'Manopause,' about the changes men go through, and asked if we would want to write a musical with him about the subject," Milmore explained. "I said, 'Sure. I'd rather write about it than continue to hear Billy (Van Zandt) complain about it.'"

Van Zandt and Milmore, authors of 25 plays published worldwide with Samuel French, are best known for their Off-Broadway comedies "Silent Laughter" where they performed a silent movie live on stage; the cult murder-mystery "Drop Dead!;" "You've Got Hate Mail," which ran Off-Broadway for over four years; and the summer stock perennial "Love, Sex, and the IRS." The "NY Times" has called them "A riot" and, of Van Zandt, NJ's "Asbury Park Press" said, "If you've never seen this clown at work, you should be ashamed of yourself."

Their work in television has garnered them Emmy nominations, People Choice Awards, Prism Awards, and NAACP Image Awards for such shows as "Newhart" with Bob Newhart; Suddenly Susan" with Brooke Shields; "Martin" with Martin Lawrence; "The Wayans Bros.;" and "Daddy Dearest" with Don Rickles.

Composer Wayland Pickard is an award-winning composer and headline entertainer. A national recording artist and published playwright, Wayland is also an Ace Award nominee, Cine Golden Eagle Award winner and a Billboard Song Finalist.
