Inspired by the crisis in veteran care at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, O WALTER, MY WALTER is a dark, absurdist farce where everyone is named Walter. A play about the buying and selling of limbs, hearts, minds and souls.

...feedback was mind-blowing. Many there had actually spent time at Walter Reed and felt that the choice to name all the male characters Walter captured the soldiers' experience of lying in seemingly endless rows in a hospital ward. -Katie Rasor, literary director of the South Carolina New Play Festival

Dr. Walter Chapps has been selling prosthetics on the black market-to Baathists. And the Department of Defense is onto him!

The currency of this piece is clear, as allegations that V.A. hospitals manipulated patient waiting lists dominate the news.

Featuring War Horse actor Richard Crawford and downtown theater star Jenny Lee Mitchell. Set design by award-winning Simon Harding and lights by Zach Murphy, head of Lighting at the Public.

Writer-director Elena Zucker won the Goldberg Prize in Playwriting for this script. She brings her physical theater background to this provocative, edgy, lyrical production.
