Actor Tony Lo Bianco has announced he will extend the very-successful run of his one-man Off-Broadway play La Guardia that just concluded a sold-out three week October/November engagement at the Dicapo Theater at E. 76th Street & Lexington Avenue. The play is based on legendary New York City mayor Fiorello La Guardia who, with passion and grit, changed the face of New York City. With the overwhelming audience response to the show, and in celebration of Fiorello La Guardia's birthday, December 11th, Lo Bianco will extend the hit show from December 4th through December 13th for the holiday season.

Along with Lo Bianco's astounding performance, one key to the show's success is the modern-day relevance to political issues and city problems that Mayor La Guardia faced in the 1930's & 40's, many of which still apply in today's political climate. Lo Bianco, who also wrote and directed the show, was very aware of certain points being extremely relevant to what our country is currently going through today. La Guardia is an adaptation of his play Hizzoner, which he originally did on Broadway.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, after seeing La Guardia was enthusiastic. "It was wonderful," he said. "Now I know what to do!"

La Guardia takes place in the former mayor's Gracie Mansion office in 1945 on the last day of his third term. Besides the Mayor, La Guardia has drawn other notable New Yorkers to performances including State Comptroller Thomas Di Napoli, O.E.M Commissioner Joseph F. Bruno, former New York City Council Speaker Peter Vallone, Sr., Dr. Katherine D. La Guardia (granddaughter and Chair, Fiorello H. La Guardia Foundation), former NY Congressman Mario Biaggi and author Gay Talese.

La Guardia is dramatic and funny as well as educational. Lo Bianco has hosted special performances for organizations and individuals that include: the La Guardia School for the Performing Arts, Wounded Warriors, The Green Team (a program for rehabilitating former inmates through gardening), the widows and families of fallen New York City police officers and firefighters, residents of the Hudson Senior Center and the USO. The positive influence the show has had on people of all ages is the primary reason Lo Bianco has extended the La Guardia run. Theatergoers have seen the show multiple times and have brought their children to educate them about this remarkable man.

The dates for the show are December 4th, 5th & 6th and December 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th & 13th at the Dicapo Theater, 184 East 76th Street at the northwest corner of E.76th & Lexington. Tickets are available at www.smarttix.com or call 212-868-4444.
