Sara Katz and Sh-K-Boom Records are happy to announce a new venue for THINGS TO RUIN, the critically acclaimed, incendiary collection of songs by Joe Iconis, directed by John Simpkins. For the month of May, T2R will be presented at Second Stage Theatre (307 W 43rd) with performances beginning Monday, May 4, 2009. This limited-engagement run is scheduled through Monday, May 18th (detailed schedule below). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 212-246-4422 or online at www.2st.com.

THINGS TO RUIN is about human beings who are messy, emotional, drugged up, knocked down, inspired, electric and who don't have nearly enough time to cause the kind of commotion they so desperately need to. Performed by a cast of viciously talented young singers and a highly flammable four-piece band led by Joe himself, THINGS TO RUIN rocks with an occasionally profane and always heartfelt explosion of music and high drama.

THE PRESS HAS CALLED ICONIS' THINGS TO RUIN: "Humorous, vital music that kicks 1960's-style pop tunefulness with hard post-punk beats. Joe Iconis recalls the excitement that that surrounded Marc Shaiman, Jonathan Larson and Jason Robert Brown. I would call ‘Things to Ruin' the beginning of something, except that it is already well underway." NY Times,"Iconis seems hell-bent on finding all the commonly shared emotional moments that nobody else has yet set to music. It's so much fun that it's a little overwhelming - ‘transporting' is probably the best word!" Variety, "This bold and prolific musical theater writer, Joe Iconis isn't just hot; he's boiling. Things to Ruin is a revue of his bawdy and profane - and sometimes very poignant - songs." Theatermania.com, "This stuff is feel-good, come-out-on-top-or-laugh-about-it-if-you-fail music" The L Magazine, "Why the hell isn't this man on Broadway already?" Buzzine.

Joe Iconis is a recipient of the 2006 Jonathan Larson Award, the 2007 Ed Kleban Award and a Backstage Bistro Award. His musicals include ReWrite , The Black Suits (music and lyrics by Joe, book by Joe and Robert Maddock), The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks (Theatreworks USA); A Joe Iconis Mini-Musical Triple Feature (Ars Nova); PLASTIC! The Musical (music by Joe and Reza Jacobs, book by Robert Maddock), recipient of a 2006 Daryl Roth Award; Triumphant Baby! (music by Joe, lyrics by Robert Maddock), seen at the Metropolitan Room and the York Theatre, directed by Brad Oscar. Joe is a graduate of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. For more information, visit www.MrJoeIconis.com.
