T. Schreiber Studio (Terry Schreiber, Artistic Director), celebrating its 40th anniversary, announced its 2009 - 2010 season today.

Following a notable year, which garnered five New York Innovative Theatre Awards for The Real Thing and Twelfth Night and praise for Fifth of July, T. Schreiber Studio opens with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Tom Stoppard's dizzying tale about Hamlet's childhood mates, in October. Carol Rocamora's new adaptation of The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov and Alan Ayckbourn's rarely performed Joking Apart round out the season. All performances will take place at The Gloria Maddox Theater at T. Schreiber Studio (151 West 26th Street, between 6th & 7th Ave., Subway: 1 to 28th, F/V to 23rd).
The 2009 - 2010 Season:

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
By Tom Stoppard
Directed by Cat Parker
October 15 - November 22, 2009

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead offers a behind-the-scenes peek of Hamlet through the lens of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, the Danish prince's mystified childhood friends. The play's thought-provoking meditation on death, free will, and existentialism still resonates more than four decades after its 1966 premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The Cherry Orchard
By Anton Chekhov
Adapted by Carol Rocamora
Directed by Terry Schreiber
February 25 - April 4, 2010

After returning from Paris, Madame Ranevskaya attempts to save her Russian estate and its adored cherry orchard from being auctioned. Anton Chekhov's tale of loss and regret is equally tinged with hope and the promises of the future for the fourteen characters deeply affected by the estate's fate. The play is adapted by Carol Rocamora, whose translation of Uncle Vanya was produced last season by the Classic Stage Company.

Joking Apart
By Alan Ayckbourn
Directed by Peter Jensen
May 20 - June 27, 2010
Richard and Anthea are the perfect couple. No, really, they are. Unfortunately for their friends and neighbors, living near perfection has unexpected consequences. When the biting comedy premiered in 1978, the Guardian raved, "Joking Apart sticks its stiletto wit into the tender areas of aging and the constant, unavoidable insistence of failure, frustration, and futility."

Casting announcements for each production will be forthcoming. Tickets for each production are $25 and will be available at www.tschreiber.org in mid-August.

T. Schreiber Studio (TSS) has been a creative community for actors since 1969. TSS is acknowledged as one of the foremost professional theatre studios in New York City.
