Producer Matt Murphy (Memphis, Thurgood, Altar Boyz) today announced that he will present the world premiere of Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man, a new three-character comedy written by Murphy and Drama Desk Award winner Jim Brochu, based on the best-seller by Dan Anderson and Maggie Berman (It Books/HarperCollins). The popular "how to" book is currently featured in the Sony film Hope Springs starring Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, and Steve Carell.

Murphy is aiming to present an open-ended run Off-Broadway in early 2013. Dates, theatre, director, cast and designers will be announced shortly.

Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man is a new three-character comedy whose title says it all! With the help of a hot yet unsuspecting model, best friends Dan and Maggie welcome audiences into a fun-filled, sex-filled world of foolproof moves, filter-free observations, and insider advice that could only be shared between the closest of companions: a woman and her gay best friend. If you're straight, come see what you've been missing. If you're gay, come see if we left anything out. If you're feeling frisky, just bring a date…you'll both be glad you came!

"Some of our best tips were picked up and perfected in New York, so we're thrilled that this hilarious adaptation of our best-selling book will premiere Off-Broadway," said authors and real life best friends Dan Anderson (the gay man) and Maggie Berman (the straight woman). "New York theatre is no place for amateurs, where the competition is, ahem, stiff. If the audience has just a fraction of the fun watching the play as we did writing the book, it'll be an utterly org*smic success!"

Native New Yorker Jim Brochu is the author of ten plays, four musicals and a best-selling memoir. He provided the book for The Last Session (currently running in London), The Big Voice: God or Merman? and won the New York Drama Desk for his work on the Off-Broadway hit, Zero Hour based on the life of Zero Mostel. His plays Cookin' With Gus, The Lady of the House and The Lucky O'Learys have been performed throughout the US and Canada. Along with the Drama Desk Award, Jim has been honored with two Los Angeles Ovation Awards, Washington D.C.'s Helen Hayes Award, the South Florida Carbonell Award and the GLAAD Media Award. His latest musical is Character Man, a tribute to the great supporting players of Broadway. For more, visit www.JimBrochu.com.

Matt Murphy most recently produced the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis on Broadway; other recent productions include Thurgood, starring Laurence Fishburne, Impressionism, starring Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons, and the long running Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz. Murphy is also currently producing New York's newest hit family musical, The Berenstain Bears LIVE!, now in its second year Off-Broadway, and Virtually Me!, which was recently profiled on Fox News and My9 News for its efforts to educate students about the increasingly challenging issue of cyber-bullying.
