Post-Show Talkback Series Continues at YANK! 3/9
The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) in partnership with Broadway Impact today announced programming for three Post-Performance Talkbacks to discuss varied topics related to the themes of their acclaimed production of Yank!, currently playing at York Theatre at Saint Peter's. Yank! features music by Joseph Zellnik, book and lyrics by David Zellnik, and direction by Igor Goldin. Performances began on February 16th and continue through March 21, 2010.
The Post-Performance Talkback schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, March 9th
Pop Music of World War II: The Songs That Changed a Generation
Panelists to be announced.
Wednesday, March 17th
Gay and Lesbian Characters in Musicals: "They are what they are ..."
Panelists include Will Taylor (La Cage aux Folles) and Michael Anderson (Brooklyn College Dramaturgical MA candidate)
Set during World War II, Yank! chronicles the relationship between two servicemen long before "Don't-ask-don't-tell" was part of the national discussion. With a lively score inspired by the pop sounds of the 1940's, Yank! captures the spirit and exuberance of the era as it explores questions of prejudice, courage and survival.
Honors for Yank! include a GLAAD Media Award nomination, a NYMF Audience Award for Best Musical and the New York Innovative Theater Award for Outstanding Musical Production.
The creative team for Yank! also includes John Baxindine (Music Director), Jeffry Denman (Choreography), Ray Klausen (Set Design), Tricia Barsamian (Costume Design) and Ken Lapham (Lighting Design).
Yank! is co-produced by Maren Berthelsen, Pamela Koslow, Stuart Wilk, Matt Schicker, Hugh Hayes, Jim Kierstead, Sondra Healy and Shidan Majidi.
