Photo Flash: John Jesurun's 'Philoktetes' at SoHo Rep
Scheduled October 13 through October 28, performances of Philoktetes run Tuesday - Sundays at 7:30PM (no performance on Thursday, October 19 at 7:30PM) at the SoHo Rep Theatre (46 Walker St).
"One of the most innovative forces in contemporary theatre in the last 30 years, Jesurun's signature hybrid of vernacular and lyrical language, cinematic and stage acting, and lush projections come together in Philoktetes to create his retelling of this classic myth of beauty and brutality. Ten years after abandoning Philoktetes on an island, his fellow soldiers return to retrieve him, now needing him to win the Trojan War: Jesurun creates a war-of-wills chamber piece about a formidable and broken man unwilling to fight in his comrades' war," explain press notes.
Tickets are as follows: 99-cents for all Sunday performances; $10 for tickets purchased anytime before October 14; $25 for remaining seats. Tickets can be reserved by calling Smarttix at 212-868-4444 or online at www.smarttix.com. For additional details, please visit www.sohorep.org.
