Playwrights Horizons is about to open the fifth production of its 2007/2008 Season, the New York City Premiere of The Drunken City, a new play by 2007 Obie Award winner Adam Bock (The Receptionist).

Directed by Trip Cullman The Drunken City will begin previews on Thursday, March 13 with an official opening on Wednesday, March 26 at 7PM.  Performances will continue through Sunday, April 20 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

As previously announced, the cast will feature Barrett Foa (Avenue Q, Spelling Bee) and Maria Dizzia (Eurydice at Second Stage).  Completing the cast will be Cassie Beck (world premiere of Adam Bock's Thursday at Encore Theatre), Mike Colter (A Soldier's Play at Second Stage), Sue Jean Kim (BFE at Playwrights Horizons, 365 Days/Plays) and Alfredo Narciso (A Streetcar Named Desire at Roundabout).

Playwright Adam Bock is making his Playwrights Horizons debut with The Drunken City after a string of successful Off-Broadway plays: the Obie Award-winning The Thugs, Swimming in the Shallows and the recent hit The Receptionist.

"Off on the bar crawl to end all crawls, three twenty-something brides-to-be (Cassie Beck, Maria Dizzia, Sue Jean Kim) find their lives going topsy-turvy when one of them (Ms. Beck) suddenly begins to question her future after a chance encounter with a recently jilted handsome stranger (Mike Colter).  The Drunken City is a wildly theatrical take on the mystique of marriage and the ever-shifting nature of love and identity in a city that never sleeps," explain press notes.

Tickets may be purchased online via TicketCentral.com, by phone at (212) 279-4200 (Noon-8pm daily), or in person at the Ticket Central Box Office, 416 West 42nd Street (between Ninth & Tenth Avenues).
