'Oh, The Humanity' with Marisa Tomei Opens 11/29 at The Flea

Oh, The Humanity and other exclamations (formerly titled "and other good intentions), directed by Jim Simpson starring Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei, opens off-Broadway November 29 at The Flea.

"Oh, The Humanity and other exclamations is five short plays about people like you, facing lives like yours. About life, in a word. Not suitable for children. The five pieces include: Behold the Coach, In a Blazer, Uninsured; Ladies and Gentleman, The Rain; Enter the Spokeswoman, Gently; The Bully Composition; and Oh, The Humanity," explain press notes.

Will Eno garnered international attention with Thom Pain (based on nothing), which played to acclaim in London, Edinburgh and New York and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Eno's other plays include Tragedy: a tragedy, The Flu Season, Kid Blanco, King: a problem play, and an adaptation of Ibsen's Peer Gynt. This November, he was awarded the National Arts Club's Kesselring Honor.

Marisa Tomei received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in My Cousin Vinny. Tomei took a dramatic turn with In the Bedroom, earning her second Academy Award Nomination. She can currently be seen in Sidney Lumet's Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, alongside Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman.  On stage, Tomei has appeared on Broadway opposite Al Pacino and Dianne Wiest in Salome. Other theater credits include Dario Fo's We Won't Pay! We Won't Pay!, Clifford Odets' Waiting for Lefty and Rocket to the Moon, both directed by JoAnne Woodward. She is a member of the Naked Angels Theater Company.

The production co-stars Brian Hutchison (The Invention of Love and Proof on Broadway) with an appearance by Drew Hildebrand and sets by Kyle Chepulis, lighting by Brian Aldous, costumes by Claudia Brown, sound by Jill BC DuBoff, and video/projection by Dustin O'Neill.

Oh, The Humanity and other exclamations runs through December 22. Show times are Tuesday - Sunday at 7PM and Saturday matinees at 3PM, with added performances Nov. 26 at 7PM and  Dec 12 at 3PM. Note: there is no show Dec. 4. Running time is 1 hour. The Flea Theater, is located at 41 White Street (between Broadway & Church Streets).
