Musicals Tonight! to Present THE GIRL WHO CAME TO SUPPER Next Month

By:

The Girl Who Came to Supper is set in 1911 London at the time of George V's coronation.

The first Act opens with the finale of the play The Coconut Girl after which the cast assembles to meet a royal visitor, Charles, Prince Regent of Carpathia (Jonathan Raviv). Everyone bows appropriately except American chorus girl Mary Morgan (Jessica Wagner) who trips and falls into his arms. The Prince is so smitten that he sends Northbrook (Mitch Greenberg) his assigned British diplomat (ably assisted by Hoffman - Richard Rowan) to invite her to supper. The planned intimate dinner for two is interrupted by the Queen Mother (Joan Barber), phone calls about political unrest at home and the arrival of the young King Nicolas (BRIAN KNOEBEL) protesting the treatment of his rebel friends. A frustrated Nicolas walks the streets of London where he meets Ada (Joan Barber) a fish and chips seller who expresses her philosophy in song. Mary writes a proclamation for Nicolas that repudiates his alliance with those who seek to overthrow his father. The Prince is so moved he calls for free elections in Carpathia and asks Mary to return there with him.Mary realizes that her role in this grand political adventure must end and regretfully the lovers part.

The trusty servants of the Prince Regent and the winning actresses at The Majestic Theater are Jamil Chokachi; AJ Hunsucker, BLAKE JOSEPH, Graham KeenE, Billy Joe KIESSLING, Ryan McCurdy, Katie Mitchell, Joanne Shea, MARITA TORNABENE, and Jessica Wockenfuss.

Songs include: "I've Been Invited to a Party", "How Do You Do, Middle Age?", "Don't Take Our Charlie for the Army".

Our musical was based on Terence Rattigan's 1953 play The Sleeping Prince, which starred Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh. It was filmed as The Prince and the Showgirl with Olivier and Marilyn Monroe. The musical opened on December 8, 1963 with Florence Henderson as Mary, José Ferrer and Tessie O'Shea as Ada (Tony winner).

The creative team features Musicals Tonight Resident Director and Choreographer Thomas Sabella-Mills and Musicals Tonight Music Director and Vocal Arranger David B. Bishop.
