The New York Times is reporting that Toby Gough's musical 'The Merchants of Bollywood' will embark on a North American tour in the fall of 2010 with stops scheduled for Toronto and New York City, amongst other cities to be announced at a later date.
'The Merchants of Bollywood' is an Australian musical written and directed by Toby Gough. The musical is loosely based on the Merchant family whose members have been central figures in Hindi filmmaking and choreography. Vaibhavi Merchant, a member of the family, was the choreographer behind the dynamic dance and musical production.
The $3 million show, first produced in Sydney in 2005, has already had two successful runs in Europe. Its current international tour consists of stops at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts from February 2-11, then the show will return to Australia from February 17 - April 11. 'Merchants' is also scheduled to play at London's Peacock theatre for a three-week run in April.
