GREENLAND Closes At The Bridge Theatre

By:

The Bridge Theater Company's production of 'Greenland' will close on February 6, 2010.

In September 2005, an island was discovered off the east coast of Greenland. Originally mapped as part of the mainland, the receding ice sheet has 'revealed' it to be an independent land mass.

Greenland re-imagines the story of the island's discovery. Glaciologist Jonathan Fahey's family is set adrift after the loss of one of their members, and the increasing distance between them mirrors that of the island from the mainland.

First staged at Toronto's 2009 SummerWorks Festival, Greenland won both the Outstanding Production Award and the NOW Audience Choice Award.

Directed by Ravi Jain (International WOW Company) and featuring Peter Lettre (Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant), Susan Louise O'Connor (Blithe Spirit), and Eryn Murman (Spring Awakening), Greenland explores an emotional landscape as raw as that of its namesake.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10. Reservations are recommended. To reserve a seat, E-mail rsvp@thebridgetheatrecompany.com.

Founded in 2004, The Bridge Theatre Company is a New York City-based ensemble of Canadian and American theatre artists dedicated to the cross-border development, workshop and production of new plays. The company examines the relationship between these two contemporary theatrical cultures through the work of emerging playwrights, actors and directors. Through its New Play Development program, the Bridge accepts a wide variety of script submissions from writers in the United States and Canada, hoping to discover and develop new plays that may examine everything from the bridges between two nations to the bridges between two people.
