John Montgomery Theatre Co Begins Previews of 'Benny'
The John Montgomery Theatre Company will begin previews of We Call Her Benny,a new play written and directed by Suzanne Bachner at the Michael Weller Theatre, 311 West 43rd St., 6th floor (between 8th and 9th Avenues), Thursday, April 3, 2008. The official opening will be on Monday, April 7, 2008.
We Call Her Benny features a 10-actor ensemble and bold theatrical techniques to create a visceral, exhilarating and kaleidoscopic portrait of one adopted woman's struggle for identity and intimacy. Themes of replacement and betrayal saturate the play, which explores family, identity, illness, adoption, sexuality and intimacy.
The cast of We Call Her Benny features Bob Brader, Anna Bridgforth, Bob Celli, Nathan Faudree, Einar Gunn, Judy Krause, Candice Owens, Tim Smallwood, Morgan Lindsey Tachco, and Danny Wiseman.
Choreography and Assistant Direction is by Julie Rosier, Technical Direction and Stage Management is by Douglas Shearer, Lighting Design is by John Tees III, Costume Design is by Nadia Volvic and Original Recorded Music is by Jessica Owen. Performances of We Call Her Benny are Thursdays-Saturdays and Mondays at 8pm. The Michael Weller Theatre is located at 311 West 43rd Street, 6th Floor, between 8th & 9th Avenues. Tickets are $18.
