Jennifer Cody is 'Junie B. Jones' in Theatreworks Return Engagement

Theatreworks USA, the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for family audiences, continues its 47th season with a return engagement of the hit musical based on Barbara Park's best-selling books, Junie B. Jones, for a limited engagement at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, New York City), Thursday, March 20 through Sunday, May 4, 2008, with an official opening on Saturday, March 22 at 5PM.

Junie B. Jones features book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich (the award-winning songwriting team behind "Taylor the Latte Boy," Dear Edwina, and the Broadway-bound musicalEver After.)  The show is based on the popular children's books by Barbara Park, and is directed by Peter Flynn with choreography by Devanand Janki, the staging duo behind Theatreworks USA's 2006 success, Henry and Mudge.

"In Junie B. Jones, outspoken, lovable Junie B. experiences a new teacher, new classmates, new glasses, and other angst-ridden first grade situations as she records all her adventures in her Top-Secret Personal Beeswax journal," describe press notes.  With songs including "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax," "Camille, Lucille, Chenille," "You Can Be My Friend" and "Lunch Box," Junie B. Jones is recommended for children ages 5 and up.

The musical's summer 2004 premiere received Lortel Award nominations for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Choreography.  The show returned to the Lucille Lortel Theatre in fall 2005 for another sold-out engagement. 

Junie B. Jones features Randy Aaron (Dame Edna: Back with a Vengeance) as Sheldon, Shannon Antalan (Caroline, or Change) as Lucille, Jennifer Cody (The Pajama Game) as Junie B. Jones, Blake Ginther (Les Misérables revival) as Herb, Sarah Saltzberg (Spelling Bee) as May, and John Scherer (Lovemusik) as Mr. Scary/Gladys Gutzman.

The production features scenic design by Luke Hegel-Cantarella (Make Me a Song), costume design by Lora LaVon (Urinetown), lighting design by Jeff Croiter (Kiki and Herb: Alive on Broadway), sound design by Eric Shim (Seussical), and orchestrations by Scott Davenport Richards.

Tickets for Junie B. Jones are only $25 each, and are now available by visiting or calling TicketCentral.com at 212-279-4200.  This production is 60 minutes long is recommended for ages 5 and up.

The regular weekly performance schedule for Junie B. Jones is as follows: Fridays at 6PM; Saturdays at 11MA, 2PM & 5PM; and Sundays at 11AM & 2PM. In addition to the regular weekly schedule, Junie B. Jones will also have special spring break matinees on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 2PM the weeks of March 20, March 26 and April 23. There will be no performances on Easter Sunday, March 23.
