Horse Trade's Resident Artist Program offers an artistic home to a select group of independent theatre artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy while focusing on their individuality as independent companies. Based on each company's independent needs, this program provides an artistic home through rehearsal & performance space, and administrative, marketing, and artistic support. It has provided the platform for many new playwrights to be published in several editions of Plays and Playwrights, Playing with Canons, and numerous monologue books - enabling some of these works to be revived around the country. Horse Trade's residents, past and present have proven themselves as a vital asset to the independent theatre community in NYC and have gone on to tour all over the United States and Europe. Subjective Theatre Company
The Subjective Theatre Company is dedicated to producing a wide range of politically and socially relevant theatre and presenting it at no cost to the public. Zachary R. Mannheimer founded the Subjective Theatre Company (STC) in 2001 founded on the principles that art is not a commodity, that culture should be without class structures, that art is without boundaries, and that theatre should always be available to everyone. In 2007 Jesse Cameron Alick took over the mantel of STC in New York while Zachary Mannheimer went out on the road to explore the American theater landscape, eventually founding a new branch of The company in Iowa called the Des Moines Social Club. Whether through our readings, productions of both new and established plays, or through the work that comes out of our CoLab wing or our original movie production wing, STC-Films, we focus on producing art that challenges and entertains while inspiring creativity and social responsibility. www.subjectivetheatre.org.
