Horizon Theatre Rep (Rafael De Mussa, Artistic Director), the New York theater company dedicated to presenting seldom-produced masterpieces of world theatre, will stage the U.S. Premiere of Araberlin, a play about identity, by Tunisian playwright and actress Jalila Baccar at The 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street - between 2nd Avenue & Bowery).Performances will begin on Thursday, July 2nd. Opening Night is set for Friday, July 3rd at 8pm. Performances will continue through July 19th.

When Mokhtar, an architecture student, disappears without a trace, his family and friends discover that he is suspected of belonging to a terrorist organization. Araberlin shows just how far the current issue of terrorism is pushing apart the world, finding it increasingly difficult to understand one another.

"We commissioned the first English translation of Araberlin over ten years ago," says De Mussa. "Since then, the issue of terrorism has taken on an even greater sense of urgency. Our staging places the play within the context of the thousands of young men and women going to fight Jihad. We hope this will help shed light on terrorism's effect on the families, friends and communities left behind." This production coincides with the April 2015 publication of "The Trilogy of Future Memory," a collection of Baccar's most recent plays, published by Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Publications (CUNY).

Directed by Mr. De Mussa, the cast of Araberlin includes: Malin Barr, Gabriel Diaz DeSalas, Lisa LaMattina, Scott Mandel,Elena Rusconi, and Mr. De Mussa.

The creative team for Araberlin is comprised of: Yuriy Nayer (lights), Ari Fulton (costumes), and Aristides Li (sound/QLab programmer) and Rafael De Mussa (set/video).

Araberlin will play the following performance schedule: Wednesday-Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3:30pm. Tickets are $18 and may be purchased online at www.smarttix.com.
