Heidi Armbruster, Dan Butler & More Set for GTG/Project Shaw's OVERRULED

Casting is now complete for Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW production of his 1912 one act comedyOverruled, on Monday, May 18 at 7pm, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.).

Overruled stars Robert Cuccioli (Mr. Lunn), Heidi Armbruster (Mrs. Lunn), Alison Cimmet (Mrs. Juno), Dan Butler (Mr. Juno), in which two couples are determined to find romance...but not with each other. GTG's Founding Artistic Director David Staller directs.

After a romantic cruise around the world, the Lunns and the Junos are reunited to find that their spouses have found new lovers - each other's. Upon discovery, the two couples launch into a debate over society's notions of fidelity, the dangers of moral extremism, and love. Written in 1912 by an author way ahead of his time, this short play sparkles with the delicious wit and repartee of Bernard Shaw at his most playful.

The evening will also include four of Shaw's rare very short plays:

Arthur and the Acetone, from 1936, is an ironic look at how the British Empire began examining a concept of the creation of the state of Israel.

The King, The Constitution and the Lady, written in 1936, is about the abdication of Edward VIII for Mrs. Wallis Simpson.

Beauty's Duty from 1913, takes about a brief look at how people can justify their infidelities.

And a world premiere! Tony winner Liliane Montevecchi and David Staller have translated Shaw's first completed play, written in 1884 titled Un Petite Drame, which he wrote in French! It's a little farce about a doctor determined to land on his feet when his wife leaves him. This farce by Shaw takes a witty yet pointed look at love, morality, and monogamy.

Now celebrating its 10th year, Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present performances of every one of Shaw's 65 plays (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches).

The season continues June 22 with Fanny's First Play, July 20 with Man and Superman, Sept. 21 with a Chekhov Comedy Event, Oct. 19 with The Doctor's Dilemma, Nov. 23 with John Bull's Other Island and Dec. 21 with The Shewing-Up Of Blanco Posnet.

Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre space is completely disabled accessible. Symphony Space is located in Manhattan at 2537 Broadway (at 95th Street).
