Georgia Engel along with Michael Park will join the previously announced Linus Roache and Heather Burns in the World-Premiere of Will Eno's play MIDDLETOWN, which begins previews at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) on October 13th with opening night set for Wednesday, November 3rd. Ken Rus Schmoll directs.

MIDDLETOWN is a deeply moving and funny new play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge (Roache) and new arrival Mary Swanson (Burns), the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.

Georgia Engel began her theatrical career playing Minnie Fay in HELLO, DOLLY! opposite Ethel Merman. Her other stage credits include originating the role of Mrs. Tottendale in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE on Broadway. As well, she appeared in the original production of HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES and appeared on Broadway in MY ONE AND ONLY. She has donned the habit numerous times in productions of NUNSENSE; as Sister Mary Leo in NUNSENSE: THE 20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR, and as Sister Amnesia in both NUNSENSE and NUNSENSE JAMBOREE. Ms. Engel is known to millions for her television roles, having portrayed the indelible Georgette on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (receiving 2 Emmy nominations), Shirley Burleigh on "Coach," and Pat McDougal on "Everybody Loves Raymond" (receiving 3 Emmy nominations).

Michael Park appeared in the Vineyard Theatre's production of THE BURNT PART BOYS at Playwrights Horizons last season, and previously appeared in the Broadway productions of CAROUSEL, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFÉ and LITTLE ME. His numerous Off-Broadway credits include MILK AND HONEY, VIOLET and BLOOMER GIRL and APPLAUSE at City Center's ENCORES. A star of "As The World Turns" since 1997, he recently received the 2010 Emmy Award for Lead Actor for his role in that daytime series, having been nominated twice before.

Vineyard Theatre is the recipient of the Tony Award for the musical AVENUE Q and continues as producer of the musical's current production at New World Stages in New York. The Vineyard has also produced the musical [title of show] on Broadway. One of the nation's leading non-profit theatre companies dedicated to new plays and musicals and bold programming, The Vineyard has produced the Pulitzer Prize-winning productions of Edward Albee's THREE TALL WOMEN and Paula Vogel's HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE. The 2009-2010 season saw several enormously popular productions at the Vineyard, including: A BOY AND HIS SOUL, written and performed by Colman Domingo, the world premiere engagement of the musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, book by David Thompson, and direction and choreography by Susan Stroman, the world premiere of Adam Rapp's THE METAL CHILDREN and (along with Playwrights Horizons) the new musical THE BURNT PART BOYS by Mariana Elder, Nathan Tysen and Chris Miller, directed by Joe Calarco.
