Theatre stars Dee Hoty, Jenn Colella and Vince Gatton join the previously announced Amy Acker and Larry Pine in The Boomerang Theatre Company's reading of THE MONSTER TALES by Mary Jett Parsley Wrenn on February 1st, 2010. Cailín Heffernan will helm the event. For more information, please visit www.boomerangtheatre.org.

The Boomerang Theatre Company (Tim Errickson, Artistic Director; Sue Abbott, Managing Director) will debut The Legacy Reading Series on February 1st, 2010 at 7pm. In an effort to celebrate the company's rich history, The Legacy Reading Series will feature readings of plays from Boomerang's past seasons. These events will be focused on keeping the spirit of these plays alive, and allow those who might have missed them the first time around a chance to experience them. Proceeds from The Legacy Series will benefit Boomerang's new play development programs.

Kicking off the series will be the lovely and touching adult fable THE MONSTER TALES by Mary Jett Parsley Wrenn. THE MONSTER TALES had its New York premiere with Boomerang in 2002, and tells the story of a lonely young woman who discovers her singular humanity when a monster appears from under her bed. Following Boomerang's production the play was published in New York Theatre Experience's Plays and Playwrights 2004 anthology.

The reading will take place on Monday February 1st, 2010 at 7pm at The Actors Company Theatre Studio, 900 Broadway, suite 905 in Manhattan's Flatiron District. Cailín Heffernan (Boomerang's SUMMER AND SMOKE, ANNA CHRISTIE) will direct this reading.

Hoty recently starred in BYE BYE BIRDIE on Broadway. Previous Broadway credits include MAMA MIA and FOOTLOOSE. Colella previously starred in Broadway's HIGH FIDELITY and URBAN COWBOY, and Off Broadway in THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL. Gatton was a Drama Desk nominee for Outstanding Actor in a Play for Off Broadway's CANDY AND DOROTHY. He is currently preparing to star in THE TURN OF THE SCREW at The Merchant House in NYC's East Village.

Acker is best known for her television roles as Whiskey on Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" and Fred on "Angel". She was also a series regular on "Alias". Pine is a theatre and television veteran best know for onscreen roles in "Vanya on 42nd Street" and a recurring role on television's "OZ". He was recently seen on Broadway in Manhattan Theatre Club's hit revival of THE ROYAL FAMILY. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

Upcoming readings in the series include BURNING THE OLD MAN by Kelly McAllister, and THE HOT MONTH by Taylor Mac. Dates and times for these readings to be announced shortly.

Mary Jett Parsley Wrenn (Playwright) received her MFA in dramatic writing from New York University. Productions of Jett's work include Right Side Wrong, First Born, Locked Doors and Lighting Bugs, and Tar River Love Story. Locked Doors and Lightning Bugs received the Southeastern Theatre Conference's Charles M. Getchell Award, and was a winner of the Charlotte Repertory Theatre's New Plays in America Festival.

Cailín Heffernan (Director) has directed new plays including works by Larry Kirwan, Dan Dietz and Mary Fengar Gail; classical plays ranging from Shakespeare & Dryden to Eugene O'Neill & Tennessee Williams; comedies including Stones in His Pockets & musicals including Byzantium for the FringeNYC & Suddenly Summer for NYMF at the Women's Project.
