The Cherry Lane Theatre has announced the roster of award-winning playwrights, director Hal Prince and renowned actress Tyne Daly to be featured in the theatre's annual, eagerly-anticipated MASTER CLASS - a series of 15 programs that offers theatergoers an inside view of theater from master of the craft in an intimate setting, starting Monday, November 2 at 7 p.m. at  Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan.  The format allows audiences to hear these masters speak about their art, and have the opportunity to ask questions of the artists.

The 2009 MASTER CLASS series - which began in 2000 with an evening featuring playwright Edward Albee in a Q and A about his own writing process - will kick off this season on November 2 at 7 p.m. with a Master Class with the renowned actress Tyne Daly.

Thereafter, MASTER CLASS will continue, as follows:
Tuesday, November 10 - playwright Marsha Norman
Monday, November 16 - playwright Tina Howe
Tuesday, November 17 - playwright Edward Albee
Tuesday, December 1 - director Hal Prince
Monday, December 14 - playwright A.R. Gurney

Monday, March 1 - playwright Alfred Uhry

Monday, March 15 - playwright Charles Fuller
Monday, March 22 - David Lindsay-Abaire

According to Angelina Fiordellisi, Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre, MASTER CLASS gives participants the opportunity in the intimate, historic setting of the 179-seat Cherry Lane Theatre to have "focused contact with distinguished artists in discussions that range from the challenges of the artistic process and production, career and life partnerships to the moment of inspiration that made them commit to working in theater."

The MASTER CLASS series is in step with Cherry Lane's unwavering commitment to giving a voice and stage to both emerging and established playwrights, and serves as a companion piece to Cherry Lane's groundbreaking Obie Award-winning MENTOR PROJECT, which each year pairs a young writer with a storied writer in the development, writing and production of a new work at Cherry Lane.

TICKETS TO "MASTER CLASS" are $25 and can be purchased by calling the Cherry Lane Theatre at 212 989 2020 x21.
