Classic 8, a new dark comedy by Amy E. Witting, begins its limited world premiere run June 23rd at the Cherry Lane's Cherry Pit Theatre, running to June 27th. Classic 8, which will also be directed by playwright Amy E. Witting, humorously explores the depths of loneliness, and how a true family doesn't have to be linked by blood.

In Classic 8, all Wilhelm Baxter wants is a relaxing evening reading the newspaper in the comforts of his classic eight apartment complete with Central Park views. What he gets is a chaotic night sorting out the lives of three very complicated women...his current runaway lover, his ex-wife turned lesbian, and her masochistic lover. Complete with arguments galore and a side of screwball, Classic 8 is a dark, funny, and entertaining look at family and relationships in the modern world.

The cast of Classic 8 will feature Kerry Fitzgibbons, Tiffany May McRae, Livia De Paolis (originated title role in the premiere of Veronica written and directed by John Patrick Shanley), and Eric Rolland (premiere of Halley Feiffer's I Didn't Want a Mastodon, North American premiere of Alan Ayckbourn's Improbable Fiction).

The creative team for Classic 8 includes Sne Patel (Costume Design), Billy Weimer (Assistant Director, Set Designer), and Amith Chandrashaker (Lighting Designer).

Classic 8 will run from June 23rd to June 27th at The Cherry Pit Theatre (155 Bank Street), with performances Wed-Sat at 8pm and Sat & Sun at 2pm. Tickets are priced at $15 purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com or $18 at the door.
