Writer-performer Ben West offers a sneak peek and discussion of his upcoming documentary musical, SHOW TIME! THE FIRST 100 YEARS OF THE AMERICAN MUSICAL, which premieres Sept. 13 at the Theatre at Saint Peter's. SHOW TIME! tells the story of a uniquely American art form, charting its evolution from the mid-1800s thru 1999, and featuring more than two dozen songs that shaped the canon.

This NYMF concert, moderated by Variety's Gordon Cox, includes a glimpse at the show's four-year development, and a preview of three sequences from the new musical. The concert will also feature the brand new SHOW TIME! theme song by Phoebe Kreutz and Derek Gregor.

SHOW TIME! is produced by UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC). UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) is a nonprofit Production Company focused on researching and developing prescient projects that explore the vibrancy of the American musical theatre canon, and how past works influence the artists and repertoire of today and tomorrow. Founded in 2009, UMC relaunched in 2018 after a three-year hiatus for research and development with a renewed focus on presenting works which speak directly to the influence of the past on both the present and future.
