BLACK VIOLIN 'Plays' at New Victory Theatre 3/11

By:

Violin virtuoso's Black Violin will headline New York's oldest and most active theatre in the heart of the Broadway theatre district from March 11- 22, 2009.

Combining a daunting array of musical styles and influences to produce a Signature Sound that is part maestro, part emcee, the group features two classically trained violinists and their DJ. With influences from Shostakovich and Bach to Jay-Z, Black Violin blends the classical with the modern and creates a sound that not only stimulates the senses but penetrates the soul. " Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park says, "Black Violin is one of a kind... Incredible!"

Black Violin features Wil B on the viola, Kev Marcus on the violin and DJ TK their mixing maestro. These musical magicians are former Showtime at the Apollo champions. They've toured and worked with artists from Alicia Keys to Aerosmith and Tom Petty. From The Eagles to P. Diddy and more.

Their debut self-titled album is available digitally through Ioda. Their debut CD features diverse songs such as: "Don't Wanna Lose You," "Brandenburg," "I'm A Ryder" featuring DMX and more.

With a commitment to developing theater audiences of the future, The New Victory Theater - a project of The New 42nd Street - presents a range of professional productions at affordable ticket prices (regular season prices range from $12.50-$35 and Member tickets are only $8.75-$24.50). In addition, it also offers daytime school performances ($2 per student), family workshops and jobs to high school and college students. Interactive Lower Lobby Activities, FYI's (performance-related exhibits) and Talk Backs with the artists are offered in conjunction with select performances throughout the season. The theater's website, www.NewVictory.org , continues to be an excellent resource, providing video clips and more information about each production in the season, as well as show-related activities. The New Victory Theater sparked the subsequent revitalization of 42nd Street when it opened its doors in Dec 1995.
