ANNE FRANK: THE DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL, A RADIO PLAY To Be Presented By The Museum Of Jewsish Heritage 9/14

On September 14, the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will co-present with Jennifer Strome Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, A Radio Play by Meyer Levin.

September 14 will mark the first occasion that the Anne Frank Foundation in Basel, Switzerland has acknowledged Meyer Levin's original adaptation of the Diary since the contested events of the late 1950s between Levin and Otto Frank. Bernhard Elias, Anne Frank's only surviving cousin, and President of the Foundation, in accordance with the Foundation's Board voted unanimously to approve Jennifer Strome's presentation. Elias' responded to Stromes interest in the radio play by stating "it represents a new approach to the strained relationship between Otto Frank and Meyer Levin."

Not heard since the eve of Rosh Hashanah in 1952 when it aired nationally on CBS Radio, Levin's play was the first adaptation of the diary. A popular and critical success, Variety described it as "shattering to the emotions." Following the performance Ms Strome will join noted author's Cynthia Ozick and Neil Baldwin onstage to examine the play's historical context and controversial fall into obscurity.
